“We’ve relaxed our anti-exploiting system for loot and events.”

I went and tried some events. Got nice loot the first event. After that it went back to being like 1 in 6.

It doesn’t feel any better than it was before? Anyone else comment?

More information on your run please. Did you simply repeat the same event over and over? Did you do an event chain where you fought the same enemies in the same area over and over? Did you actually move around to different events in different areas/sides of the map? Did you attempt events in different map zones?

The main people complaining about DR so far are in the last area of Orr and are staying within their little bubble and not moving, thus kicking in DR by the fact that they aren’t moving.

I apologize if that’s not you, that’s just 99.9% of what I see in these threads. I’m just trying to confirm what I’m suspecting about DR by data gathering from this.

DR kicks in much faster and decreases rewards much slower. Can’t draw any conclusions yet.

I’m curious about the run as well; but quoted this for the following: It may be time for Anet to address the reason players are staying in these bubbles rather than either joining a zerg or roaming around Orr as they seem to want the players to do.

They’re there because the penitent path gives max karma/xp.

If they scaled karma and xp to the real level the player, and gave the same karma and xp regardless of the event location, everyone would be everywhere.

There are very elegant solutions to this problem, and ArenaNet is not using them, despite already setting the precedent by scaling loot to the real level of the player.

I know why they are there. All I’m saying I think Anet may want to begin looking at the “reasons” and address those “reasons”.

And I completely agree with you.

I definitely don’t disagree with this. Addressing the reason behind the problem.

I’m just insanely curious as to so many posts on DR and complaints about it when some of the major mechanics seem to be known and people seem to be doing things within the mechanics and expecting something different to happen.

Again, I’m not assuming this poster was one of them. It just is kind of baffling that:

Killing the same type of enemy over and over
Repeating the same event back to back
Repeating the same event multiple times during an hour
Killing enemies in around the same area over and over

Seem to cause DR and people seem honestly disturbed that they are getting DR when they’re doing 1 to 4 of these things.

Now, again, you’re right. There is an original problem potentially in the design where that seems the most alluring, but it could also be less in the design and more in ingrained habits that other games have put in.

But also the design due to a lot of it centering around tier 6 rare mats.

But the difference between karma in Orr and Queensdale in an hour is actually remarkably similar. You actually can potentially get a lot more gold in Queensdale than Orr due to more events spawning faster and them taking less time. More gold from drops from Orr, but those are negated by DR unless you area skip from what I can see, which isn’t hard, but people don’t want to do it.

I dunno. I’m just a bit confused.

It’s because players don’t have the official definition of “farming” from ArenaNet.

For some players, killing the same type of enemy over and over is farming. It may or may not be, according to ArenaNet.

Thus, the flailing / disconnect / anger / etc.

So it goes down with every event completed now? Wtf. That’s even worse. Even if it somehow ends up being more karma for X events; you are still wasting your time if you aren’t getting the full 378 reward.

Yup, this was all damage control. The new relaxed DR is absolutely pointless and insignificant. Nothing changed.

Also don’t count on this ever changing too much to make any significance. I remember GW1 having worse DR.

Just one quick observation. Farmed the grenth event 5 times (4 fails, 1 succes, wasn’t intentional, pugs and all that). After completing the last trash group for the chest, the entire chain of attempts none of us noticed loot DR kicking in.

Previously, loot DR would kick in during the first attemp, usually while killing adds at the boss. It’s a very noticable difference.

Beyond this? I don’t know, not had time to do more farming yet.
