My daily AP now shows 10010.

It still shows 10k daily AP on my main account + 2595 monthly. So they did not merge it.

Well that would be a bad solution. Why didnt they add the montly to the daily AP? Looks very ugly to have 2595 monthly AP.
How hard can it be to add up 2 variables and delete the obsolete one. Thats a less than 10min work beginner task for programmers.
I hope this is just a quick and dirty temporary fix and not the final solution for this.

EDIT: I just checked my other accounts with 0 monthly AP and it does not show monthly AP for them anymore. Too bad they didnt take the extra effort to fix this for accounts with more than 0 monthlies.

Probably harder than you think. And since we have a grand total of no idea how the code looks it is silly to speculate how hard or how easy it would be.

I’m glad they didn’t add the Monthly AP to the Daily AP total. Why would I want to reach the new cap that much sooner? Now I can earn more APs. Yay!

Competition in the leaderboard? I am in top 10 so its important to me.
I hope its just a visual thing and daily+monthly are indeed capped at 15k. The main difference between me and the rank 1 guy are about 200 AP difference in monthlies. So it would be a dealbreaker if it would be otherwise.
In that case it would have been better to keep the monthlies so we both would have hit the 5k monthly cap eventually.

Why? Did ‘that guy’ have access to something you didn’t? Wouldn’t his/her APs have been capped at the same time as yours…or sooner?

Are you assuming this other person was earning Daily APs when you were not? Seems unlikely, but…I guess you could always ask them. /shrug

I hope that the monthlies count towards the cap. Otherwise I’ll never have a chance to catch up to players who did more monthlies than me.

Ugh. There were exploits which let you earn additional daily and monthly points, one of the reason why the caps were added. I dont know who abused them and how much, but they existed and were only fixed a couple of months ago.

Which would ruin all hope of having at least the top 100 of achievement points in a competive state. And also ruin all reason for me to buy all the black lion weapons (read less money for Anet) if I cant catch up to rank 1 anyway.

It would be nice to get some clarification on the nature of the cap. Maybe they just kicked the cap off until they are finished with the update that pools them. It was holding some people back.

As somebody who’d like to have a full radiant set someday, I’ll gladly take the extra 2.5k over chasing some people I don’t even know on a leaderboard.

The achievement system is pretty screwed up anyway… they added caps to daily but half the AP in the game is temporary, unattainable, and uncapped. The ladder is kind of meaningless if it’s not a matter of competition but being here every day since head start.

Everything needs to have a cap to have a maximum AP obtainable for everyone regardless of start time. Or everything needs to be uncapped to make it a contest of dedication, resources, and time spent. To cap only particular things after a particular date just serves to lock everyone into maximum points possible that is different for nearly every player and makes it easier for people at the top to hold their lead not having to compete after they reach all the caps and having all the AP others missed out on.

There needs to be the same max for everyone at all times regardless of time started or event missed or there needs to be no max at all.

Uncapping everything wont work. Some things give a lot easier AP than others. What would you do? Salvaging a few thousand items or craft a 2nd legendary you already owned before for 25 AP? It makes all hard and time consuming achievements useless if you have easy uncapped achievements. Unless of course the hard/time consuming achievements would give insane AP, lets say 25,000 instead of 25 for Twice told Legend.

I hope Gaile Gray will come in and tell us wether its a combined cap or if dailies are 15k now + the old monthly AP.

That achievement I would think should have been like thurstslayer track. I probably should have mentioned unlimited repeatables shouldn’t reward AP. I remember when they were uncapped I saw someone with 35k AP lol

But yeah I agree. I hope anet didn’t just gate a bunch of people out of another few thousand AP. As someone that has all permanent AP but hasn’t been here every day or even week to earn all dailies and monthlies this would be a punch in the gut.

Where was this? It’s not a question of how high the cap is… It’s either or not that cap includes monthly points earned.

We are well aware of that link. It really wasn’t clear. It said they are merging the caps and that we would be able to continue to work towards the maximum points for the daily achievement system. It doesn’t make it clear that the points earned for the monthly are included in the cap and since they didn’t merge the two pools visually it makes it even more unclear.

Indeed some official clarification would be nice. I want to know if i can give up on buying black lion weapons, because I can say byebye to ever reaching rank 1 if it isnt merged.
