Q:
Daily Acheivement Point cap
It’s not a big problem for me, but i think that they should at least cut the AP needed for the skins rewards by a good half.
This has already been discussed to death, and your post isn’t a question.
Don’t cry, Signet of Mercy. Others may forget you, but I will always remember.
Our deficiencies may be overcome by practice and self-discipline.
Achievement points don’t matter other than for the skins which Anet could just manipulate the scaling to compensate for the increased AP if the cap were removed.
If you’ve been with this game since inception, then you didn’t just find out about this. You’ve known for years.
First, the ‘explanation’ was never uttered by the Devs; it is a forum ‘urban myth’ that has become ‘truth’. The cap has been in place since the inception of Dailies, but way back then, no one was ever close enough to care; it’s not something the Devs just put in to anger Vets.
Not sure how you missed the weeks-long thread about this recently; I’m sure a quick Google search will reveal it for you.
Good luck.

You sure?
There are a few other general changes to daily achievements. There will be a limit of 10,000 daily and 5,000 monthly achievement points, rotations have been updated, and several relevant achievements have been updated to function in PvP.

What’s kind of amusing is that you actually posted in another thread about it and linked that very same article. The cap didn’t exist until much after the dailies were added.

EDIT: Also adding this bit
We still show all monthly points that you had previously earned. You can now advance the daily points past 10k. The combined total of daily and monthly points will be 15k. So, the daily point cap is dependent on how many monthly points you have. New accounts that have 0 monthly points will not see the entry in the tooltip at all.

Yeah, I’m sure I’ve not seen the Devs explicitly say the cap was put in place to ‘allow new players to catch up’.
As to when the cap was instituted, I was remembering using the Wiki to try to determine when the cap was put in place, and only found references that supported by erroneous statement about when. My apologies on that part. I suppose it’s flattering anyone tracks my posts, lol.
Good luck.

I wasn’t tracking your posts exactly. I was actually trying to find a source for when they added the cap and happened to stumble across yours. The whole thing about “allowing players to catch up” I could try to find assuming it’s not from one of their streams. TBH though, whether or not they actually stated it likely would not change anything so I’m not sure how much worth it would be to find it if it exists.
I just found out about the daily achievement points cap and I can only say that I am disgusted.
Bothered by it? That I understand. But “disgusted?” That doesn’t seem like a proportionate reaction, especially if you take time to read ANet’s reasoning. (I don’t happen to agree with them entirely, but I don’t think it’s worth worrying about; I’d rather that they kept adding in more content than adjusting the daily system again and again.)
