So logged into GW2 today to do my dailys. I see that one is called Maguuma Jungle Lumberer. So I assume that means the new HoT maps, that is the Maguuma Jungle. I chop down a few trees and I find that it isn’t working. I check in the achievements and see that it is actually for Caledon, Brisban, Maelstrom, Sparkfly, and Metrica. I know that before the HoT release those areas were considered Maguuma Jungle. On the map the closest name I associate those to is the Tarnished Coast, not the Maguuma Jungle.
Am I the only one who thinks they should do some renaming?

I agree that the three Maguuma named regions can cause confusion. I think the problem is that renaming them now will cause more confusion, at least in the short term. Heart of Maguuma is easily identifiable as HoT maps, but Maguuma Jungle does make one think that you’d need to go into those maps too seeing as HoT is all about the jungle. Maybe Maguuma Plains would be a better name for the original Maguuma maps?

The tooltip/description for each achievement lists the locations you can go.

I think it’d be less confusing to just let ALL of the maguuma jungle count for such events. Central Tyria and HoT maguuma jungle IS all the maguuma jungle, so it’d make sense that “Daily Maguuma xxx” would apply to… all of the maguuma jungle.
But, I’m kind of on Ayrilana’s side on this one. The change really becomes a lot less necessary when the daily tracker literally specifies exactly which part to look in.

Just like Southern California, Northern California, Baja California, I think we can remember to distinguish Maguuma Jungle, Maguuma Wastes, and Heart of Maguuma (we won’t even mention the Maguuma tribe [ooops, I just did!]).

Barring that, as others have stated, the tool-tip does specify exactly which maps.

Mechanical regions and lore regions are different.

For achievements, “Maguuma Jungle” actually refers to a series of areas that were mostly known as “Tarnished Coast” in GW2, plus Brisban Wildlands which corresponds to the easter areas of Maguuma. Sparkfly fen is somewhere that doesn’t seem to have a particular name and has ruins from both Kryta and Orr, and Mount Malestrom is part of Steamspur Mountains, as you can read inside the detailed description of each achievement.

The areas that would be considered ‘Maguuma’ in lore are most of Brisban, the Maguuma Wastes and the Heart of Maguuma.

I think Maguuma Jungle, Maguuma Wastes, and Heart of Maguuma are distinctly different areas for the purpose of the dailies and I don’t have a problem distinguishing among them. Anet has been naming challenged here and there. I remember when people would argue that they meant WvW to be a part of PvE, rather than what it actually is, PvP

What bothers me about Heart of Maguuma Lumberer, is how few lumber nodes there are in a frikkin jungle!

They recently did rename the zones so that there wouldn’t be confusion. Maguuma is the core Tyria maps, Wastes are Dry Top and SW, and then there is the HoT zone.

I grab the lumberer/miner/forager dailies in my home instance anytime they are based on a core tyria region.

What was wrong with Magus Falls? :S

If you happen to be in 2 guilds that has upgraded their nodes then you can use them for Heart of Maguuma gather,mining chopping dailies
