What? Is the person inventing the worse Knock-Knock jokes being taken for witty? Please. Learn the meaning of this phrase. “Leave well enough alone.” Daily Dodger – not very artful. This should be as fun as playing Quarters in a bar…oh…you think THAT’S fun… How’s your game of Tic Tac Toe?

“Smile,” he said. “Things could be worse.”
He smiled, and sure enough, things got worse.

Do you really have nothing better to do? I can almost guarantee you whoever thought that up put a whole ten seconds into it, because it’s just a name and that’s all the time it was worth. Is your time not worth more than the value of critiques that don’t matter?

Yeah.

Punch a deer, wait for endurance to fill. Dodge. Repeat ad nausaeum.

This wouldn’t be nearly as bad if mob’s telegraphy was consistent (ex: TERA red eye shine) half the time a mob has a noticeable wind-up animation/effect you dodge too soon.

Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”

I got mine while farming in Southsun – Just hit a karka then roll to avoid the little thinggers they shoot out at you.
Unfortunately though I can’t find any vets that count towards MY daily, so I have to wait till reset to get a new one ><

I get the feeling a lot of the new dailies are trying to teach people how to play the game. It’s shocking how many people don’t ever bother to dodge attacks or other such things. Hopefully it’ll have a positive effect.

I don’t see the problem with this achievement? I got it through normal gameplay, farming de’s, gathering, dungeons, fractals. You mean that you never try and dodge attacks or aren’t successful enough times a day to get this achievement?

You might want to consider using one of the games core mechanics a little more often.

^^^ This

If this daily achievement is giving you problems you might consider learning to play.

As an aside, I got this just mashing 1 with my ranger greatsword. As long as the word “Evade” pops up it counts.

Good way to get this one done is go to Southsun and use the karka. If you dodge their initial attack you can get 2 or 3 dodges in at a time. Got it done in less than 10 minutes.

I dodge attacks regularly, but I seldom get the "evade"notice. Hmm. I must be good at dodging that split second before I’d normally get the message. This could be interesting.

Some easy other ways to get it (if you’re having trouble) thief shortbow 3, thief d/d 3, ele staff fire 4, ranger shortbow 3, I’m sure I’m missing a few others.

I know I was frequently dodging “too early” to get credit, but a run of CoE explorable will quickly teach you why that’s “bad.”

I don’t know why they use dodging as a daily task. It’s just a technic to use in a fight like fire magic. Why should it matter how we kill the enemy.

Instead how about a daily like “Kill 5 Veterans”

I have kill 5 veterans.
None of them give credit That is:
WvW vets – No credit
DE Vets (Like Opening CoF Gates/Surrounding events) – No credit
Random vets around the world like grubs in Bloodtide Coats – No credit.

If/when you get this daily, please tell me what vets actually COUNT, cause i’m having to wait for reset to even complete my first one ><

I’m fairly certain that is a daily.

As for the dodger daily, as I noted in this thread, it seems Anet is trying to remind players the mechanic exists. When you’re doing fractals 20 and 3 of the people in your group just eat Rabsovich’s attack because they apparently don’t know how to dodge, it’s pretty clear dodging is under utilized. The daily combos achievement was even more of an attempt at this as, if I had to guess, the majority of GW2 players don’t know a combo field from a leap finisher from a blast finisher. Judging from the comments about how “broken” that achievement was, even those few who do know how to execute combos don’t understand how projectile finishers work.

But I guess I don’t understand anyone’s concerns about these dailies. Does it really make things worse for people that they might need to kill 25 enemies underwater instead of killing 15 different enemy types?

I have major trouble with this achievement. I’m one of those horrible, horrible players that move out of stuff instead of relying on the “please don’t hurt me” button. That aside to get the dodge to count you don’t just have to not get hit you have to time it an iota before they come in contact with you.
It’s not teaching us much when many of us just go to a lowbie area and play peek-a-boo with a ranged mob.

For certain ranged builds in general PvE you can just move out of range. However, for most melee builds, or for anyone in certain higher difficulty situations (most prominently CoE explorable) both the use of dodge as well as the last second timing are critical. If you can’t manage to earn it through regular play, go hang around the ettins in Gendarren Fields. The point is people are being reminded that dodging exists.

I’ve been trying dodger on 1v1 pvenemies and haven’t been spot on. It’s much easier doing it from a persistent AOE, especially the kind machines make, like dredge machines.

People vary.

Ice elementals might also be a good choice for anyone dodging “too early.” The animation for Ice Spike is very slow, obvious, and easy to dodge.
