Daily Event Completer...
I preferred the old format for the dailies. I preferred the old generic kill a World Boss to the new kill this specific World Boss. It’s just too bad if your work schedule doesn’t leave you time to get to whatever World Boss event has been selected. You can’t always rely on WvW to pull you out of the fire if your World is having a bad day. And if you suck at PvP, which I do, you could be struggling. There’s nothing dramatically wrong with the new format, it just seems more like a job now. Some days I just don’t bother.
A good general rule to follow is unless it is a zone that has a world boss chain (like Wayfarer Foothills – Frozen Maw) then don’t bother with the zone event daily unless you feel like spending 8-15s porting all around to try to get tags on an event. For today’s daily, I just went into EotM at a reset and finished the daily in < 10 min and earned gold instead of losing it…lol.

I do EoTM for dailies also when time/waypoint money consuming dailies turn up. Gets it done in a nice time. I think the WvW dailies are probably the most well thought out. They’re a nice balance between time required and difficulty, whereas some of the PVE dailies can be a bit excessive.
I wouldnt bother with event dailies unless there is a super convenient meta event like Teq or Claw.
The only pve dailies worth doing otherwise are harvesting, vistas and bosses if you can find the time for them.
What they should have done was make events region specific and vistas zone specific.
That way, people could spread out for the events a lot more. While it males it a quick daily, I hate when it’s do events in a starter zone. Not only is it hard for max level characters to get in enough hits at events, it’s likely even harder for new players.
Hearts and skill challenges should have been included imo, simply to (directly) encourage map completion and playing alts.
Instead of waypointing around, learn the map. Pick an area where events commonly spawn or pick an event chain. Most events can easily be completed in just a few minutes. If someone calls out an event that doesn’t involve a timer in some way, chances are you’re not going to make it, especially in the lower level zones.
Daily events were always the worst. I absolutely loathed them. The maps you have to go to have their events immediately dry up. Then when you finally find one, it’s over by the time you get there. It’s a terrible experience, and I never do those anymore.
“Players join forces by the hundreds to answer each challenge, whether it’s the invasion of Scarlet’s army or the onslaught of Tequatl the Sunless or the fight over Stonemist Castle.”
That line is from Mike O’Brien’s Guild Wars 2: The First Year blog from August of 2013. Much of what ANet has added to the game since, barring TA/AP, an update or two to FotM, and sPvP, has been in aid of producing that kind of experience. The issue is that this type of play is being shoehorned into zones whose events do not scale to actually generate the “challenge” part.
The daily event has been turned into a junk daily. Zergs racing from event to event and no one cares what the story of the event is because they are too anxious to get their tag and the credit.
I do as little as possible. Tag the event, move to the next, tag, move, get my 4 medals and waypoint out of that stupid mess of a daily. Leaving behind me the frustrated cries rising to the heavens, “Events?” “Waypoint?”

I wish they’d just left the old generic dailies alone. I liked the fact that if I could jump on for a few minutes I could grind out a daily if I was in a hurry, but I would just complete them organically if I played for a decent amount of time. Now it feels like something I always have to go out of my way to grind to completion. It’s not hard or anything, just inconvenient. I have to admit, I don’t complete them nearly as often as I used to as a result. It just feels like a chore now.
Agreed with Seera.5916: making events and vistas to be region specific may solve some frustration.
I was in a low level zone (my toon being at level 64) and players were spamming their skills at the entry spot of the enemy npcs to the point where no other players could possibly get even one shot in to get credit for the event, despite players communicating. This is the case for many or all events, and I’m finding it extremely frustrating often not caring about daily achievements as I used to. I used to make a point to getting my dailies done daily, and now less so. I can imagine the dismay and frustration of newer players.
The positive aspect to the new daily events is the meshing of high and low level players emphasizing the great and best thing about gw2: its cooperation factor which makes the game so enjoyable and wanting to return to. The other great thing about the daily event is that it brings high level players back to zones which they completed and maybe forgotten about, allowing opportunities for guild recruiting and assisting new players, which I’m assuming are the goals of the changed daily event system.
Getting dailies should be a fun, exploring and re-discovering experience in getting achievements. At the moment, the experience is less so.
Dailies aren’t actually neccessary to do unless you want 10ap, because the old dailies are now what we know as the log in rewards.
I really like the new dailies and they don’t take as long as you all make out they do. Yesterday I did my whole daily in PvE (shocker, I know), Fields of Ruins events, and I waypointed once because running to find events was far easier then waiting for people to ping nearly completed events.

I rarely do daily events (usually I do the quickest and easiest 3 so I can move on to different things) but I have to say, when I do, I follow the Zerg, but I also use the daily as an excuse to explore a zone and see the scenery that I might not have been to for months. Being in a Zerg does not stop me being able to admire the beauty of the lesser-visited zones or follow the storyline of events and I think the daily events should be kept for that reason.
