I have noticed something that just doesn’t make sense to me. I am hoping that with everything that is going on it simply got overlooked, that it wasn’t done on purpose. To be honest if I were a new player this would be one negative towards the game for me.

I made a new free account. Mostly to explore and see what the restrictions are to help me answer their questions. Partly to hang out with my friend who recently joined our community as a free player.

Now, let me first point out something. Free players do not have access to LA until level 35. The only way that they can get any where is by running or using a WP that they have open.

Now the issue. On the free account that I made I got dailys. My free character is a Norn. Her dailys for PvE (she can’t go to WvW) were……..

#2Foraging in Kryta? ok and how is a level 15 supposed to get to Kryta for this?
#3Vista in Ascalon, fortunately there is on in Diessa Plateau that is easily accessed from Wayfarer Foothills.
for PvP

1. Warrior or Ranger, she is a Thief so no luck there
2. PvP Capture~capture a point
3. PvP reward earner

Did I mention that I really don’t like PvP? But even if I did I have trouble believeing that a lvl 15 in looted gear would be any good in PvP.

Maybe it is just me but I honestly think it would be a little more fair to the new players, and more apt to get them to stay, if their Dailys were actually ones that they can do.

If they are Norn give them things in their races area, same for Human, Charr, Asura and Sylvari. Change them as they get higher but for the very low levels be reasonable please.

As a F2P player, you get one unlocked waypoint in each of the starter zones. so you don’t have to run to each region. There is a zone in each.

Your looted gear has nothing to do with PvP. You can wear whatever you want it wont make much difference.
Stats in PvP are adjusted with the amulets and runes you use. Not what gear you wear in PvE

The old system was better. You could get dailies done in a single zone, playing the game instead of having to WP hop across the game.

FTP players can’t access WvW till 60. Only a few dailies are in new zones. Even if a level 15 Norn can easily enter Frostgorge.. what can they possibly do there? In many zones game-available harvest tools are also restricted by level.

Just wait till they move dailies to HoT. They will… Anet expects you to go where they want you to and it is not very negotiable.

As a new player or FTP player you won’t see much sympathy from this “wonderful” community. You will get told “you aren’t doing it right”. Same attitude Anet has now.

The lack of sympathy comes not from them being either new or FTP, it comes from the abundant number of (un)official posts spelling out the limitations, restrictions, and options for F2P accounts.

And from the arrogant presumption that ANet would intentionally give FTP players Daily tasks they couldn’t complete.

A little research goes a long way. A lot of lazy, not so much.

Even the non free to play accounts get a waypoint opened up to all the starter zones. My last key runner, I happened to look and each starter zone had the nearest waypoint to the racial city open. It’s a great idea. Now, instead of running to LA and then to the central hub and then through the racial city and back out to each starter zone to meet up with friends, your new char can wp over there.
