Dark Reverie is a joke!
Having done this recently, there is skill involved. I do enjoy this puzzle, and at first I thought it was dumb that I had to redo Morgan’s Spiral everytime to get back, but now I could probably do Morgan’s Spiral blindfolded lol.
My biggest/only gripe with Dark Reverie isn’t an issue specific to Dark Reverie. Its a game-wide issue, and its the kitten kitteny camera.
That said, I’m aware that what I may like, others may not, so I’m not trying to tell you you’re wrong. If you ask who enjoys it, I’m one who does. But if they do decide to tweak it somehow, I won’t really object to it or anything.
I can imagine it would be a nightmare for charr or norn characters, but I can’t remember this one being overly problematic for my human warrior.
What DOES need fixing is the camera in Troll’s End for larger characters. Out of interest, I tried it with my maximum size charr the other day, and it was impossible to actually see past my character a lot of the time. I had to give up due to not being able to see where I was jumping.
I guess overall, the message is that if you want to do jumping puzzles, you’re probably best off making the smallest character you can.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Yeah, that one was annoying. I got to the point where I could fairly quickly make it all the way up to that 1 mushroom at the top that you mentioned. I must have fallen and died a dozen times before my luck came through.
I could have been seeing things, but I think “turning into the jump” made a difference. Like I tried to turn my character to the right mid-jump and made it. Could be wishful thinking too. :/

I don’t think its wishful thinking, Obsidian, I think you got it. You have to jump towards the lower part but in front of it, and ‘turn’ onto it at the right moment. It took me I think 12-15 tries (about 5-6 deaths, since there’s a branch underneath you can land on sometimes) before I figured it out. But once I got past that hurdle, the rest of it was a cakewalk.
I liked that one, I spent one evening dying in the swamp at the start of it, because I couldn’t solo all the mobs at my level at the time.
I spent another evening falling off with a group of random players, chatting and helping each other up until we eventually made it, the satisfaction of beating it was immense and made me glad I had done it.
Having finished all the jumping puzzles, I can’t wait for more in Oct 22nd patch
The last jump can be a pain. I found the easiest way to do it, was to use swiftness and jump at an angle towards the lowest part.
@arjeidi.2690
That is a fair point and I too can literally run through MS without stopping at this point.
@Mungrul.9358
Yes I can sympathize, the only difference with that is if you fall at Trolls End you just walk back about 20 feet and jump again. With DR you need to complete a puzzle first before entering it and if you fail you die which eats up silver also. There is no real danger in TE, just frustration.
@Obsidian.1328
It does make a difference but just about, the point I want to make is by the time you have learned that you could have spent a lot of silver and time and tears just to learn that and you shouldn’t have to.
This is off-subject, but does that Thermanova puzzle in Metrica count for an achievement? Or is it just for fun? (or lack there-of when done during the fire Ele event, heh)
