Day-night and weather
Just wow. I’ve always been behind the idea for better weather effects. See the other threads about improving night/day time.
But you sir had me with this video. Really impressive!
I’d love to see updated day and night cycles, and more weather effects, but not going to happen, it would require too much work and you can’t sell it in gem store.
I too would like some better weather and day/night cycles…but I don’t think they will ever add them, and honestly, I would want them to focus on other things first (like opening up Crystal Desert!).
There is one day/night issue I do with they would implement…I want night to be darker… more like how dark it is in the Snowblind Fractal when you are running through the woods. And I want it to be that way in WvW when it is in-game night time there. In real combat, nighttime is a very different playing field than daytime. I think that could transfer to WvW as well.

I recommend bumping these threads since they’re quite enhanced already.

They can do it. The prove is the snowblind fractal, atleast the forest part of it.
I think it’s something that can be achieved, but it is difficult to do in the current maps they should implement them on the new maps that open
an idea to raise through gems that would be accessories, mini-pets and stuff you shine the way as you play, like a flashlight.
The key to making darker nights is to do so in a way that is enhanced by the design of the game itself. That’s why personally I like the idea of adding lunar phases and adjusting the darkness of the night based on the phase of the moon that night. Then on the darkest nights (which wouldn’t be crippling dark, just noticeably darker) you could have special mobs that spawn, special loot that drops from those mobs, unique events that trigger in the dark (the Risen are emboldened and move out, attacking outposts and towns, champions spawn in the dark and go on a rampage, etc.)… you could even have certain types of resources become available in the night for new crafting recipes. An enhanced day/night cycle, coupled with lunar phasing to give periods of “darker” nights compared to a full moon for example, could really open the world up to a whole new layer of content added right on the existing maps.

Exactly! and therefore they should implement a time within the game. Those things were already older games than in guild wars 1 .
The only time I can even tell the difference between night and day is when all the golems in Rata Sum start beeping and saying ‘Good Morning’ in several different languages.
Something is definitely missing.

It’s sad that this is so ;(
