Its ironic really. Dailies were changed with the good intention of making people go to ends of the world and experience ‘more of what the game has to offer’. The irony is that you’re moving people away from the things they actually do…daily. A frequent dungeon runner has to go out of the way to find some underwater mobs to kill, or stuff to gather etc etc etc.

But hey, that’s ok. You need to earn the rewards.

But will it work? I doubt it! ‘Path of least resistance’ will always play a big part in the failed intentions of the dailies. Can they make a daily that only involves events in say, Fireheart Rise? Nope. people will scream that they haven’t reached the level required and are shut out of the daily. So in order to encompass everyone in the player-base they need to allow people of all levels to do it, which is why people will just do what is easiest. Hello Queensdale.

In the case of this game the path of least resistance has a huge gap between paths of more resistance, mainly due to aggressive spawn rates. This is one game where I have to say the responsibility for the faulty game play is more on the developers. It almost feels like they don’t want you to be in higher level zones. In response players are getting really good at leap frogging over each other and ignoring anyone who needs help when they are in them.

That being said most people I think are still going to choose the path of least resistance for dailies [lower level zones] as there is very little medium ground in GW2.

I was actually expecting them to implement things along the line of “Kill 25 bandits” or “Complete 5 events in Queensdale”. But as long as the dailies don’t require Dungeon or Fractal runs, I’m cool

The new dailies are not much harder just different. However, i wouldn’t deny it actually encouraged some ridiculous actions. Like the unnecessary prolonging of a fight to get some dodges in. Letting npc and players die so as to rezz them. Nevertheless, we will soon get use to it in no time at all.

make doing these things worthwhile with better rewards – not too hard a concept but sadly its not the one being attempted.

There’s nothing wrong with the reward really, I just don’t think the dailies will ever be a successful avenue towards leading players to do things in certain areas. There’d just be too much exclusion.
