Moderater on every closed bot thread!

“Hello,
If you think a player is breaking the in-game Code of Conduct, please use the in-game report feature or contact customer support.
I will now close this thread.
Thank you.”

Which parts of those threads detailing the fact that reported bots are not being removed do you not understand?

Would be entertaining if this thread was closed with the same message.

Mods here seem like they all the same responses, like their are given scripts that begin and end in the same manner, sorta like MSwords Automated Letter function. It’s extremely confusing to some of the community and also frustrating. It’s easy to hide behind the fact that’s a ton of users but while that is akittengood reason, why not give us more information (and I don’t mean a lot so as to disrupt their workflow) on their workload so we can conceptualize the hard work they are doing, that would allow everyone the knowledge that THINGS are being done, which most of us believers already know but many obviously doubt. This isn’t hate on the CC’s, just a practical statement on their practices and standards. It reminds me of “other” unfriendly MMO companies that Anet has so far set themselves apart from. I hope realize this behavior is not enjoyed by their fanbase as rabid as it can be at times.

nb4 I am now locking this thread

I don’t think it is unfriendly, they are just being professional. Not all answers are the same.

I have noticed that many botters seem to be staying in the game. Do they need to hire more GM’s to be able to pop in and be able to ban players personally?

I’m sure they have a list of places that are routinely farmed and exploited…why not randomly pop in and ban the bots then move on..sooner or later all those gold farmers are gonna leave as its not profitable to be playing a game you constantly have to shuck 60 bucks for but get banned for a week later once you’re high enough level to farm certain areas.

good call, i’ll rephrase that, it came quick off the top of my head and usually poorly thought out ideas are poor ideas. Thanks for the smack on the head Eochadidh, I needed that, hate when I express myself incorrectly!

edit: botters are a diffiult situation in particular and I have no angst towards Anet for take the proper time they believe necessary to deal with them effectively, officially when I commented it was merely about the automated style of response given from most CC member to all types of questions in general – not really about botting at all. I see the forums littered with threads about RMT so I understand their logic there, it’s the other things that are more important I sometimes take issues with. Maybe I don’t know anything, but I like to know everything, which is why I believe in transparency! I was mostly talking about other threads that are frequently locked.

I’m also kinda disappointed on how Arenanet handle bots. I have reported bots two weeks ago, with videos to prove it. But they still not ban, why?

I like it. It means to me that basically ArenaNet handles things very “Constitutionally” if you get my meaning. They want defined logs of data, user submitted reports, video logs, and actual in game reconnaissance along with whatever else before they’re ready to hand out the ban. I really respect that. This is an American company who understands Due Process of Law.

They sure were quick to hand down the bans regarding the karma/cooking items/mystic forge exploits however so.. who knows maybe they’ve stepped up the investigation process of which, I wholly, approve.

We cannot take bot reports on the forums. Our forum moderators and Community Coordinators (CCs) are not GMs; they don’t work on taking actions on game accounts. Given that our forum moderators cannot take action on bot reports and that the method by which players should be reporting bots is via the in-game reporting tools or via Customer Support, those threads are locked and players are provided the information on the correct procedure.

Our Customer Support Team is handling all in-game reports of breaches of the User Agreement. They investigate each player-submitted report, so as you might be able to imagine, doing this process right takes some time. The Support Team needs to go through this investigative process so they ensure that they’re terminating the correct accounts and not taking actions on false positives. The team is working on tools on our side to help speed up this process.

Secondly, if you have a question about moderators’ actions, please send an email to forums@arena.net. Creating a forum post about it will only earn you an infraction for violating the Code of Conduct.

Thank you for your attention.
