we just need a few sub catagoriess as the “Open world content” catagory is overloaded at prime time. i imagine that this is a easy addition, almost copy/paste of other segmets of the current UI LFG window.

i’d suggest catagories like these then a sub category for the specific zone:

Maguuma wastes:
-drytop
-silverwastes

Heart of thorns:
-verdink brink
-auric basin
-tangled depths
-dragon’s stand

as far as the current open world, not such a big deal but i think if you kept a continent category going, it would be nice.

Tyria:
-ascalon
-kryta
-shiverpeaks
-maguuma jungle

or just leave open world alone, but the new meta’s for HoT and all the achievements that are in HoT are certainly worth a few more LFG categories.

I’d like to see HoT tab in lfg tool to separate the expansion. A raid tab would also be nice too. Right now the open world tab gets pretty congested with all silver waste taxi’s, teq, triple trouble etc. With all new HoT maps with meta advertisments it would be much easier visually to sort things better.

It does. But overall the LFG could use some changes

Story should become 1 category with diffirent subgroups (1 living story, 2 old personal story, 3 HoT personal story, (and future stories.)

And an open world category split up between HoT & Tyria subgroups.

Then ofc the obvious raid category.

So everyone knows, the LFG system in the game is getting ridiculous and needs a change.
First of all, there are 6 categories in the lfg system: Open World Content, Dungeons, Fractals, Personal Story, PVP, WVW. the last 3 categories are basically unused and a waste. People who need help or is lfg for personal story posts in open world content, people in pvp never check lfg to group up, typically they already know people to group up with in their friends list or ask in Hearts of the Mists. While no one really uses the wvw lfg not even in eotm, as i have check them countless times just to see if anyone really bothers to use them.

For Open world content, this has to be changed drastically, everything is just posted here, people doing dungeons, makes mistakes alot and post in lfg, people doing personal story, achievements, guild recruiting, dragon events in old tyria maps, dry top, silverwastes, new HOT maps, cof farms, hero point trains….and so forth, you get it, there are just WAY TOO MANY THINGS listed in there that it is hard to actually see which you need. LFG is no longer in beta as it was when it first came out, and it really needs to be changed so that whenever you first start a post in lfg, you should be asked where you want to post your lfg, unlike how it is now where it automatically puts you in open world content as it is now.

Dungeons and Fractals lfg both work fine, but now that RAIDS have been added, there DEFINITELY has to be a specific RAID category so it lessens the clutter in open world content. To add more to open world content, if infact the lfg post is worthy to be in open world content category, it should be further broken down to different subcategories, a certain subcategory for each new HOT Map as the meta for them floods the lfg like a swarm of locusts, as does the lfg for original new maps aka Dry Top and Silverwastes.

You can even say, that an lfg for guid recruitment, achievements, dragon events, and others should have there own category as well, but most importantly as i mentioned before, there should be a last check before anyone posts to put every lfg post in the right category/subcategory, and remove the ability to post in open world content category itself just like you cant post in the dungeon category, you have to go to each specific dungeon subcategory to post your lfg.

Ideas, to further elaborate this change would be great, i’m sure this isn’t the first post about the lfg overhaul, but this is my 2 cents to telling devs about how i feel it should be changed.

I’m almost certain they are working on that but waiting until it’s further in development to talk about it.

It’s really needed, no argument there, I think anyone would agree.

Characters :
Nooctae ( Thief ) / Encelya ( Engineer ) / Jane Crimson ( Elementalist ) / Kowywr ( Revenant )

I think it would also help to unlock the Fractal LFG. At the moment your personal reward level determines what sections you’re allowed to post in. I think this is why people keep posting Fractal groups in Open World instead of the appropriate Fractal section.

I agree with the OP though, more sections would definitely help improve the clutter.

I don’t know if there’s a suggestion forum, but I didn’t find one. I spoke with an ArenaNet employee in game briefly and he suggested I make a forum post, so I’ll paraphrase my conversation with him into this post. I’m writing this after my 3 hour attempt of a raid (1 hour looking for the initial people, an hour looking for 2 replacements, and an hour of failed attempts before everyone gave up and left), and while I didn’t get any loot out of the raid at all I still had fun.

LFG would be a great addition over Guilds and friends because it’s really hard to find people who will consistently do the same activity with you, and LFG would eliminate the need for that. I don’t have 9 friends that would do this with me, or a Guild, but I still want to be able to do the content that’s released without waiting hours beforehand doing nothing. Even if I did have 9 friends that would do this with me, they’d all have to be online at the same time AND want to raid. I’d probably need 30 or 40 friends to be able to probably raid whenever. It’s just a big hassle unless you’re in a big Guild. I’m pretty sure everyone wants LFG for raids, and my friends and I were disappointed it isn’t in.

And I also think kicking players, even if they’re offline, is restricted to Commanders? I, the person who started the party couldn’t kick but the person who spent 300 gold could kick.

LFG needs a raid section…. it also needs “Open World” split up into each HoT map, Dry Top, Silverwastes, Core Tyria, and Orr. I know the LFG tool is in “Beta” but it really needs some attention if these difficult meta events, and raids, are going to be successful.

I haven’t logged in yet today. So you guys mean this wasn’t already done? A tab wasn’t made or put aside for raid content in LFG? I feel like that should be integral to the design of raid content sine it is one of the core features of the expansion.

Heck an overhaul to the LFG tool would be nice. There is too much going on in the “Open World” category these days. Each map having its own LFG tab would be great.

As for Spirit Vale, can we please get a map for people to go into while they set up for raids that is not Verdant Brink please?

Yespls on that last part, and the employee I spoke to said it was designed for friends and guilds.
So in addition to all the other guild exclusivities, there’s these.

No point in this. Random groups will never finish the raid, so they should stop using LFG to even enter it. Its new and everyone wants to try it out but people will stop soon.

Well my first reaction is ‘I do hope that raids won’t be so easy that you can pug it’, but yeah the LFG could use an update, and they might just as well throw a LFR in there if only to ease up on the clutter. So more categories pls.

Sorry to burst any ones bubbles, but raid content will be pugged with time, no matter how hard you make it, as knowlege of the fight spreads a winning formula will be created. With that formula, pugs will beat it.

But yes, lfg needs expand, infact the whole map system could use with some improvement.

I would like to see a ‘LFG section on my map’ … which would include all parties where the leaders, were on the same map you were (any instance).

If this was the “home” screen and then the option was “open world-general” which showed all-maps basic LFG it would help so much.

It would be a good idea in my opinion, to add a Raid section to the LFG tool.
Currently, finding any open world events is a pain due to all the requests for Raids.

This can be done in a couple of ways.
1) Changing the Dungeons section to say Dungeons & Raids
A) Add Spirit Vale as a new category

2) Give Raids it’s own sub section.

Thoughts?

Please please please. The current iteration of LFG is a mess in the “open world” section. From people who don’t understand that “open world” doesn’t mean “dungeon or fractal groups”, to people looking for a variety of different map meta events (which balooned from just Cursed Shore, FGS, Dry Top, and SIlverwastes to all those plus VB, AB, TD, and DS), to now people searching for raid members

First off, add a raid section.

Second, split open world into Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths, Dragon’s Stand, Silverwastes, and Central Tyria: General or something.

The easier it is to find groups for the content we need the better. The challenge should be the content not the mess of a UI.

I wander if anyone at ANET has looked at this post before:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-ve-redesigned-the-UI-the-official-website/first

The UI this person created was insanely good and would really increase a person’s desire to do certain activities within the LFG tab and more. Ease of use and clarity is definitely something that needs to be looked upon in Guild Wars 2.

I agree that the LFG tool should have more options. Definitely a Raid section and maybe sections for the open-world maps which most commonly have groups forming.

I don’t think it’d be practical to have one for every map, because there would be a huge list and most wouldn’t be used, but I’m sure they could easily narrow it down and if they kept the general section it would cover the rest.

LFG defiantly needs a few new tabs
Additional tabs to make it work better:
1) Raids (sub tab for each raid wing)
2) HoT Open world
3) Festival/Special events (for stuff like Halloween, Wintersday, Lunar New Years, etc.)
4) Bosses (usually one 1 or 2 bosses are up at a time unless a guild starts it so there isnt much need for sub tabs)

Helpful changes:
1) sub tabs to the personal story tab for each set (Original, LS S2, HoT)
2) allowing reading/posting LFG in higher fractal tiers if you have the Agony Resistance suggested for the first scale of the tier
3) not removing a LFG because someone miss-clicked or didn’t read the full description and then left (had this happen to me so many times while i was trying to find The Tormentor in SW that i was suppressed “for spamming”)
4) stop people from posting LFG if they are being suppressed for spamming (rather than make their LFG blank)
5) allow squad commanders to post a LFG to join their squad
