Just idea for improving the defiance system.
I’d like to see the system changed to be something with different levels of defiance.
I believe the system is already like this inherently.
But I’d like to see this reworked slightly.
A decay should be added to defiance, so that after a certain amount of time passes the defiance level drops.
For example maybe defiance level 0 only takes 1 CC to interrupt.
Maybe for defiance level 1 a visible defiance bar is added similar to a healthbar or event progress bar.
That bar resets after it completley drops and a visual indicator of the defiance level incriments.
Additionally a timer could be added to the defiance level and when that timer expires, the defiance level drops by 1, but the progress carries over between levels.
Finally I’d change the impact difference CC’s have on the progress bar. So a daze would have less impact than a stun, which has less impact to the defiance bar than a knockback, which has less impact to the bar than a knockdown, which has less impact than a launch.
Or maybe instead of the different types of CC the impact to the defiance bar could be based on the duration of the CC, so that Headshot does a little bit, while a Judgment does a whole lot.
Or maybe make it a combination of these two things impacting the defiance bar together.
I don’t know what the right balance is, as I just had the idea 5 minutes ago and haven’t had time to think about that, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard to tweak the numbers once the logic is established, similar to how you guys designed the new matchmaking system.
Defiance makes CC against bosses completely useless, unless you’re tackling them yourselves or with a small group all in voice comms.
I don’t have any ideas how to fix it for zergs, though. I think it’s fine as it is.

i agree that i don’t know how to fix world bosses. What i know is that Defiance is a broken mechanix that has to be fixed.
Here is a link to an older thread where were given some good ideas to improve defiance.

+1 on this, champs often have so many stacks it’s not worth considering CC, they will go down sooner you can apply interrupt or stun.
An alternative to this would be great, even if it’s only in dungeons, it would be kitten open world champs due to the zerging nature of the content.
The biggest problem is that there are only a couple of skills worth interrupting. If there was a skill which had to be interrupted then it would be interrupted, with or without defiance.
For zerg design, I think bosses should be generally immune to all control except during some special attacks with long casting times. For example boss had a skill with 5 s cast time which did 5 huge PBAoEs in 5 s with a very high damage. At beginning of the cast control immunity would be removed and boss would gain a stack of defiance for every fifth player. So a 50 man zerg would have to use 10 interrupts in 5 seconds or face serious damage.
Defiance itself is a pretty balanced mechanic in dungeons. Lots of boss attacks are AoEs so everyone in the group has to dodge or do something. Similarly party has to use ~5 interrupts to prevent an attack.
Using control properly doesn’t require much coordination. Keep boss at 0-2 stacks and use 3-5 interrupts when you want to interrupt something. For zergs this would be equivalent of keeping boss at 0-10 stacks and using 11-50 interrupts. Everyone just has to know what should be interrupted and what not.
