I am a returning player. I can’t really afford to transfer to a new server, but I don’t mind deleting my characters to play with friends on another server. Is this possible? I know it wasn’t in the past, but is it now?

It’s possible. Some friends of mine did this. Be sure to put anything you can use on new characters that you want to keep in the bank because it will transfer to the new server too.

Yes, if you delete all your characters you can transfer for free. Make sure you put everything in your bank first. All items in your bank and wallet will transfer with you. If you have a personal guild bank you will want to withdraw everything in your guild bank as you will no longer be able to access it once you transfer.

also if you have any soulbound item in your bank, delete all of them first because, if you don’t, when you delete all your characters and create new ones, the new characters won’t be able to pick up those item to clear the storage…

You can pull soulbound items out of the bank and drop them to destroy them.

You have always been able to delete all your characters to transfer at no cost. Do be aware that anything Guild-related will stay on the server it is associated with. Make sure to double-check any characters’ inventory before deleting. CS can not replace items lost on deleted characters.
