So, A.net said ’’nope’’ to race change I’ve read on the forum… so now i’m stuck with a character I don’t want to play until i can change him:

I’m currently playing a Norn/guardian hes level 52 I’ve spent 7 gold on crafting and hour of hours on world completion.
So now my only option to change him is to delete and start all over…?
When i would be willing to pay money to change him.

Thanks anyway.

R.I.P Norn – The time i spent on you was a wast … * delete *

So what made you want to change norn away? I usually think these things alot when making chars so i would not face these kinds of situations.

But what it’s worth, i find it odd for not having that kind of option. Anet could get some nice extra cash from those.

It probably has something to do with the fact that a race change would completely alter your personal story. Cosmetic changes such as face/ hairstyles/ eye color/ etc would not.

So you played all the way to 50 before you realised you didnt like norn? Woah… were you even playing the game? Anyway, with the personal story and stuff its gonna be hard to change race. Just level a new character with the race you actually want, and hope you can stick with it this time. ^^

Start a new character in one of your other character slots. No need to delete. All items crafted are account-bound so you can still craft items for other characters.

Also, Liam Neeson:

Liam Neeson isn’t so fat, and he doesn’t have weird Warhammer-style shoulders. Sorry to burst your bubble.

IT’S A SWORD. THEY’RE NOT MEANT TO BE SAFE.

I did that I didn’t want to pay to recycle my traits at level 80 (I like to switch between staff spells and dagger spells, as well as Fire and Air) so I made a second character.

Please name me 1 MMO that allows for you to change your character. For the life of me I cannot see where these race change topics come up in every mmo with the attitude that the player is somehow screwed, lied to, or cheated.

Did you have no fun at all playing up to level 52? Did you get no value at all from your play time?

Yep, the personal story will have to do with it. But it’s quite the same for real life. You’re just born that way.

You could get a sex change.
You can get a body change.
You can get a name changed.
But you can’t change where you came from.

(The top three features were available for purchase in GW1 after a while)

Who knows, they might put in and reset your personal story but I’m sure it’s more complicated than that.

It’s not just personal story, but also there’s race-specific gear that would complicate a race-change. It’ll just never happen.

If the toon really has that much spent on it for crafting and is only lvl 57, you should just keep it as a crafting mule.

TERA allows you to change race…for $25.00, lol.

I’m still waiting for name, appearance, and gender changes in our cash shop. Even just name and gender would be fine as you could just reselect your current gender so that you can go back and change stuff you don’t like.

Here’s what people thought of GW1 when it first came out: http://tinyurl.com/bntcvyc

Because it makes absolutely no sense? You can’t change yourself from being a white male to a walking tree in real life, how does that make any sense to bring that into this world? The only game I play that I can see that making sense in is Eve because I could just create a new clone with modified dna, but this game is not in that reality. Magic is a dumb excuse too. You simply can’t come up with any logical lore for that to be aloud. It takes like a week to get to 80 on a new character, just make another one. It wasn’t time wasted, you played a different path of the story. Now play another.

Delete? Just get another character slot and make a new one.

Race can’t be changed because it’s linked to personal story, so changing it would mess up the first parts of it, and the racial sympathy parts.

I just re-rolled my level 80 full exotic Guardian ’cause I got fed up with how my Sylvari looked and sounded. Consider only level 50 as lucky.

“This rose has thorns” gets a bit irritating.

I haven’t deleted her, but I’m racing through the levels on my new guy.

EQ2 sold race-change potions for the equiv of $25. But they also sold pay-to-win stuff.
