Just my two cents.

I’ve been running SW pretty much almost daily since they’ve been up. But there are times when the messed up .. – I don’t even know how to call it – mechanics? RNG? no idea – make me take a few good days break from it.

Take an example today.

So I needed one more gas bladder. Yipee, now we got the gas bladder extractors. Well, apparently they’re as good as the experimental ones, because I still got a “piece of gas bladder”. Why in the world did I spend more bandit crests on a specialized extractor?
Then comes the RNG. I had kept pretty much all bags I’ve got for a while so I’d opened them when my MF is at a max.
Today, yipee, my MF actually got to an unbelievable 467%. Time to open bags.
I got 5 yellows. the rest, blue and greens and tier 5 mats.

Well, definitely cut my appetite for SW for a while.

Same messed up mechanics that made me not buy gems for a while now. I’m sure I’m not the only one. But, as an Old World saying goes “the dogs bark and the caravan just minds its road”. No matter how much we bark, Anet keeps going, no matter what.

The specialized extractors are there to get specific parts, and that’s exactly what they’re doing. You just need two bladder pieces in general.

Bags are not affected by MF.

You still need both halves of a bladder to make the complete one. The extractor simply guarantees you a bladder half rather than, say, a tendon. (I still boggle at them doing that half-an-organ thing, it was highly annoying until there were dedicated extractors).

For me the SW loot isn’t the point, it’s a side effect of working a round from prep to Breach to Vinewrath to maze. I did get one ascended weapon chest once (from a bandit chest), and that was cool.

If you’re not enjoying it, though, don’t do it (other than getting your last organs, that’s progress you can feel). It’ll still be there later once your taste swings back that way.

Because you’re guaranteed to get a piece of a gas bladder instead of a piece of liver. The specialized extractor would not negate the fact that you’re only getting a piece of that organ. Two (one) runs for a single organ is infinitely better than up to (or more than) 48 runs, isnt it?

Then comes the RNG. I had kept pretty much all bags I’ve got for a while so I’d opened them when my MF is at a max.

This one is simply a failure to understand on your part. Champion bags and the big chest from VW are, without exception (unless pvp bags are champ bags too), 100% NOT affected by magic find, with the only slight exception being the quality of champion bags(I think). What IS affected by MF in Silverwastes, however, are the lost bandit chests. Drops themselves, including unopened containers (moldy bags, etc, maybe champ bags if those arent 100%) have their chance of occurrence affected by MF as well.

Well, I went for the second piece. And guess what? I didn’t get anything. First champion killed (and only), extractor activated (bladder one) and I GOT NOTHING. I said good bye to that place for good. Not gonna waste my time for nothing.

Are you trying to get pieces out of the champions during the VINEWRATH fight, or during BREACH? Did you look through your inventory for the bag thing to open to get the organ/organ piece? Were you under the effect of the “tuning” junk from a fight during Breach?

I fail to see how you’re having issues getting what you need unless you’re not paying attention.

When using a specialized extractor, you don’t get a bag. You just get a piece. It’s entirely possible he was looking for a bag and didn’t realize he got the piece. I wouldn’t put it past him, especially since the halves stack.

I already said that I’ve been doing the Silverwastes since they’ve come up. I know exactly how to use an extractor, I know exactly where the champions are (doh Aidan Savage kitten kitten much? how does that sound, to get pieces of the champions during Vinewrath?!?), checked bag, pieces are not stacked, I still have only one., and btw, Aidan Savage, as Koviko said, pieces do not come in a bag. Most of the stuff doesn’t even come in a bag anymore, appears straight in your inventory if you use a specialized extractor.

So no, checked and re-checked because I couldn’t believe, this has never happened. NO organ drop. Nothing. I attached a screenshot of my bag. As you can see, there’s only one piece of thrasher gas bladder.

It’s one extractor for one piece or a whole, depending on the body part. Everything you are stating is exactly as it’s intended. We’re all playing in the SW with the same mechanics. I have not found one extractor to decide not to work. I have forgotten to click on another extractor if say, we killed thrasher then ran to silver/gold. Or, while doing to VW and my lane does two bosses and I forget to click another extractor in between.

I DID click the extractor. It’s not even in my bag anymore, the only one that is there is an experimental one. So yes, I did click it, the champion was killed, I got no piece or no whole organ. The end. I wouldn’t be so upset if it wasn’t so.

All I can say is, if you didnt get any organ pieces, or whole organs, you:

  • Didnt have an extractor active,
  • Failed to activate extractor effect due to “mordrem tuning” buff

Those are, unfortunately, the only two reasons you would not have gotten any organ related item. There’s really nothing we can tell you other than you made a mistake somewhere.

I’ve had the Platinum Thrasher bug out and give me nothing once before despite being there for the entire event and getting Gold participation (and having my extractor activated, of course), and when I mentioned it in map chat it seemed there were a number of others who didn’t get anything either from that particular kill. So its not impossible.

The fact that the OP has MAXED MF and does not understand what area of RNG it effects speaks volumes.

Per the wiki:

Magic Find.
Magic Find is both an account bonus and a character attribute that increases the chance to receive higher-quality loot from slain foes. With a couple exceptions, it does not affect containers (including champion loot bags), chests, or any other source of loot.

The exceptions are:

  • Containers received from structured PvP reward tracks.
  • Bandit chests in The Silverwastes [citation needed]

There are two components of Magic Find: an account-wide bonus, which applies to all characters on the account, and a character-specific attribute.

Let me try to understand you. Do you really believe that while I spent several hours in Silverwastes, at the time of my MF going that high, I HAD NO BANDIT CHESTS?

Because if you really believe that, then, I am sorry, but I will not even bother putting any kind of value to anything you’ve just wrote. Also, FYI, as it seems you do not know that, when you take over a fort, as well as when you kill a Veteran in the “destroy the Mordrem threat” for the ones that hang around a fort after the attack of the Modrem, and also when you gather rubble, yea, those jungle tendrils and Vile Thrashers, all these, DO NOT DROP BAGS. The loot is direct.

Seriously, some people in this forum make me think that they believe their questionable IQ is the highest possible and everybody else thinks with their toes or their socks even.

It’s funny how OP excepts good drops with high MF, when RNG means Random Number Generator, and not Guaranteed Number Generator.

Having 500%, 600%, 1000% MF just means you have a better chance at good drops. But it can still mean that if you opened 100 Lost Bandit Chests, you’ll only get 1 Rare.

Now speaking on your missing part, it’s highly likely you forgot to click on the specific extractor, bought the wrong one, or killed the wrong boss type.

Or, more likely, you didn’t manage to read properly everything I posted. Fairly obvious, don’t you think?

Besides, you kind of fail at logic too.
If I wouldn’t have clicked my extractor, it would still be in my inventory. It isn’t.
If I would have bought the wrong one, there would still be an extra piece of Modrem organ in my inventory. There isn’t.
If I would have killed the wrong boss type – which, of course, can happen, because even if you aim for the Thrasher and defend the Blue for the whole length of the event then enter the breach, it might not be the Thrasher the one you’re seeing, and all that morning coffee you had can give you hallucinations – but, let me not digress, IF I would have killed the wrong boss, there still would be an extra piece in my inventory. there isn’t.

Now, what were you saying?

I don’t need to read everything, because it comes down to a misunderstanding about how RNG works, and when MF comes into play.

Going on, I have yet to see any evidence that proves that you had the correct extractor buff on. For all we know, you forgot to buy one, like many of us tend to do if we’re rushing. That would explain why it’s not there in your bank. Or, you deleted it before taking a screen cap after realizing you forgot to click it.

Please post a video of your game play so we can pinpoint where you went wrong. It would also help to determine if there was some type of bug.

Side note – it’s more fun to run the basic experimental extractors, and leave the drops to RNG. If feels a lot better when you get the part you need.

Right, because in the despair of being proven wrong, now you are requesting proof of what happened yesterday. Of course, I will, as soon as you email me the key to the time machine.
What you are saying is that somehow, I didn’t buy the extractor; after not buying it, I didn’t click it; after not clicking it, I went to the wrong boss thinking it was the Thrasher; then after killing the wrong boss, I deleted the extractor.
Because in other words, it seems way more logical for all of the above to happen than for the game to actually have a glitch (and apparently at the same boss, as others have posted it had happened to them). Besides, it seems that I have no better things to do with my time than come here and read all the illogical and befuddled explanations of people who obviously have never lived in an adult, logical environment.
As from a 40+ years old woman (yes, we do exist in game, and it’s not weird), in the hopes I will not hurt your feelings too much… grow up. Also use some Lecithin.
That in the hopes that in the future you will not insult other people by calling them liars after everything they have written is logical and makes sense while everything YOU have written doesn’t, and you just got kittenhurt because they had the audacity to call you for it.
Also, and again, I hope it doesn’t hurt your feelings much… I don’t have to prove anything to you. Simple as that.

Nah, you don’t need to prove anything to me. I already know. All of us who have the full armor set went through the same things: Kill boss, get part, complete collection. I haven’t heard a single instance, outside of yours, that a part didn’t drop. Yes there is a chance that you might have run into a bug. But there’s also the chance that you didn’t have the proper extractor.

If you have no proof of one, then it’s logical the other happened. It’s also entirely possible that neither happened, and you were running a dungeon instead.

You got one piece of two needed. Working as intended.

Thus the reason why I suspect you may have made a mistake with your “I GOT NOTHING” accusation. Maybe mistakes and misunderstands = most likely more mistakes and misunderstandings.
