Q:
Details on April 30th patch?
Not too many details yet, but it sounds like all kitten is going to break loose all over Tyria!

If it is anything like the last bunch of living story stuff, I will need to take a nap first, to ensure I can make it through without falling asleep.
Yeah, it hasn’t exactly been captivating stuff. Way too much press for what they’ve given us. It would have been much better with no build up at all.
Ah man, April 30th is a Tuesday. I’m going to miss that final event. I was inactive on GW2 during the previous events, and looks like I’m not going to be able to partake in this one either.
Don’t matter I s’pose, with the way the RNG treats me, I’m likely to just get a few whites and blues anyway.

No, it wouldn’t. A build up is important for a satisfying story. Though the execution of the story could have been better. We need more direct interaction and a reason to invest in the characters.
It’s not going to be a one day event, so relax. You’ll be able to catch it later.

Why assume it will be a one-time event?

Well it’ll probably be like the current parts , so instanced (maybe even a dungeon)

Haven’t they all been one time events? I mean, unless I want to wait till next year, and with my wonky playing schedule and burnouts of GW2, who knows.

Nope, you can still do all the stuff in Flame and Frost, even the stuff that came out three months ago.

There have only ever been one (or well 3 parts) event that was one-time and that was the Karka invasion.
All parts of Flame & Frost is still fully possible to play, even those released back when the first part went live.
It is however somewhat likely that the earlier parts will get removed some time after the final has been released.

Dont worry, the patch its on his april 30. So for most of the world the patch will be May 1, and there you have! you already have a patch for next month too!
Be happy, the next Jul patch will be probably better. Yay!

You seem to be missing the point entirely. Either that or you’re desperately trying to be sarcastic, and failing.
I don’t care which month the patch falls in, only that it falls on a work day, since I have a full time job.

Of course the patch will fall on a work day. The people doing the patching must be at work to do it. And it is best the patch does not come on a Friday since there is always the chance of something going wonky. They’ll have a couple of days to fix things before the weekend.
Does it really matter to you that much if some people can play immediately and you only after work or even not until Saturday? The patches generally happen while I am asleep. I cannot stay up and wait for them, because I have to go to work early in the morning. Unlike the Karka event, it is not a problem anymore. I play when I have the time.
Your reasoning is incorrect. A patch with content may be sent to the client, and enabled on a specific date. There’s technically no need for any staff to be present when patch is enabled. See what happened with SAB when they enabled it – the content was pre-loaded before the actual release, and the release was on sunday/monday.
And yes, I don’t particularly care if I get to play on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Satruday – but I am somewhat afraid that it will be a one time event which requires attendance at a specific date/time, which I may not be able to do.

I honestly don’t think it will be a one time event considering nothing in the flame and frost living story has been a one time event. As others have said, all flame and frost content that was ever released is still capable of being completed right now.
They have done one time events in the past… the living story content is not a one time event.

Because it would fit in with the other one-time events ANet has already had.

The one-time nature of those events received overwhelmingly negative feedback. Maybe they haven’t learned from their mistakes yet, but I’d be surprised if that were the case.

They have had ONE one-time event, and since then they have had a rather high amount of events that were NOT one-time, simply because people didn’t like the one-time event style.

It’s not going to be a one-time event, however, once flame and frost concludes, some (or possibly all) of the content will be gone. But the conclusion won’t be until the next living story chapter comes, so you got plenty of time.
~Surrender fiend and you will get an easy death
~I could promise you the same…but it would be a lie…
I wish they would release what is going to be in the patch. The only thing we know for sure is that there will be living story content. Everything else is just conjecture.

Yeah. I’d bet most of the Zone Events will go, the Sonic Periscopes, the dirt/snow covered objects and fallen refugees, and the refugee camps (including the one in LA). The Refugees will set up permanent shop in Southsun Cove.
The actual Story Missions will probably stay as-is, able to be replayed indefinitely, and the new settlement in Southsun may preserve portions of the other content somehow.
