Did Culling got worse?
Since the 1/28 patch culling, which used to be episodic, is now a universal and continuous problem. Always now in events, but running into the TP in LA will demonstrate this as well. When you run in the place will be empty. In a few seconds you will be in a sea of other players. Culling has gotten worse. But, what would you like more, a stable balanced game or monthly events? As we have seen, you can’t have both.
The current consensus i believe is that it really didn’t change much and if anyone noticed anything at all, it was worse.
For example the day of the patch I ran Balthazar and literally could see no more than two or three of my comrades and no enemies. It was pretty horrific and was never that bad prior to the patch.
6 days ago I posted that one:
“Sorry, it is not about WvW, but I don’t know where to post..
Just visited a grenth event after they finished him and there were 25 seconds left for the following event to protect Jonez.. however, as I went there I was able to see one group of foes at the stairs (they spawned at the waypoint), but as soon as I entered the hall, I couldn’t see anything (→ foes, players). (Never had it that bad^^)
All players that were supposed to be there and the rest of the enemies, they were killing, were invisible.
But I could see all animations and effects -.-
After they finished the event, it took some time until I could see again.
<10 people seems to be fine, but with >10 people it doesn’t make any sense to play.
Lag isn’t really a problem."
I don’t have a clue where we could report something like this. Is there anything being done about that issue? (And yes, before the 28/1 patch it was much better for me)
Kinda. I guess the fact that I notice it more now than before is a testament to that :|
I went to the Claw of Jormag event yesterday and as I ran up the hill I see a small group of about 30 players. Kind of a small crowd I’m thinking, then I take 2 steps forward and WHOA 130 people. Take 2 steps back, 30 people. 2 steps forward, 130 people.
Who knows how many players were really there?
/paranoid
Yes. In the tunnel (Cursed Shores) I see all the players, but the mobs only materialize when I am within a few “game meters” of them. It seems like WvW prioritizing of people over foes was used in PvE instead of the reverse… I’d rather see what wants to kill me over who wants to help.

Agree with the sentiment, though from what I can tell, we apparently can’t have either one.
The monthly events, provided they work as intended (and to date, they never have), only seem to increase the number of bugs we have. We do get bug fixes, but as soon as one is fixed, two more spring up. I understand that games are complex creatures, but….seriously, this sort of thing would be caught in a PTR server rather quickly and avoided. Instead we’re kinda just expected to roll with it, like having such major bugs at this stage is somehow “charming”.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
Did culling got worse?
Maybe. I seen culling got worse at large events and large zerg clashes in wvw, but culling did not got worse on small and medium scale in my opinion, though I do like seeing the placeholder models(which was a step in the right direction).
So depending on the player, maybe your culling did got worse.
