Did I mention I hate jumping puzzles?
I don’t recall a jp that’s required for map completion. Which map is this?
The worst one’s that are needed for world completion are Vizier’s Tower and the vista in the far SW of Dredgehaunt Cliffs. Everything else is pretty darn easy. I hate jps and I have 4 characters with world completion.
If you’re talking about the Vista in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, (and you’re in NA) there’s a map clearing zerg that runs maps, and that’s one of them. They have Mesmers porting a lot of the Vistas. The Guild is Zealots of Shiverpeak, [ZoS] and you don’t have to be in the guild to run the map clearing zerg with them.
Yes you did and you had plenty of responses. +1 troll point for you though.

Jumping puzzles are everything wrong in the world.
I would literally spend money to have a tool that can cheese these things. It’s fine having to find the entrance and going around and exploring, but when it comes to jumping on these narrow sticks shoved in the side of walls, and cramped overheads to bang your head on, and then having to start all over again when you mess up, it’s really just too much for me.
The worst part is that you have to do them for map completion.
You have no idea how badly a missed area hurts my OCD, the pain is excruciating.(EDIT: I primarily mean jumping puzzles that keep you from getting to a vista)
I love jumping puzzles. I fail at them 90% of the time, especially when I have no idea where to go, but the satisfaction of finishing one is very pleasing.

Breached Wall. Viziers Tower. Not to mention a number of Vistas that have jumping puzzle like paths in order to access them.
@OP: Best bet is to get a friend that likes jumping puzzles and has a mesmer.

Breached wall is a bit long, but it’s also pretty tame.

Compared to things like Griffonrook Run, Scavenger Hunt and many other difficult ones yes, Breached Wall is very tame. Also, finding a mesmer friend or a guild to help out would greatly improve your thinking on jumping puzzles.

As much as I dislike jps, I refuse to use mesmer portals. I used it one time for not so secret, mainly to get the diving master achievement. I prefer to earn things myself. It’s why I feel like I cheated myself a bit for buying some items with gold to make my mawdrey instead of making everything myself since I didn’t feel like grinding out the geodes and waiting to craft the things I needed with the daily cds.
One day I was bored and wanted the poi for the sand dune caverns underneath silverwastes. I think I almost did that jp with no guide on my own. Sadly, I got to a point that I couldn’t figure out how to proceed and I ended up giving up, but I got the poi and 3 chests. So while it was frustrating, it was more rewarding than getting a mesmer portal.
The JPs with nothing but sticks on a cliff face are just too kitten much, I can’t take it anymore, I guess 99% map completion is ok, whatever, who needs legendaries anyhow, right? Or the last part to an achievement? Naw.
I die to these stupid things more than world bosses, that tells you something.
Normally I wouldn’t care, but when it’s necessary for map completion I do very much care.
Jumping puzzles aren’t the same as combat… Even so world bosses are laughable you can sit there auto attacking while being half afk

I’ve only used a Mesmer portal on a single JP (Not So Secret) to get up about halfway. The rest I’ve finished on my own, with the only one I used a guide on being Scavenger’s Chasm. But there’s no shame in farming for gold to get what you want, ’cause you still earned that gold.

Sorry, but earning something by doing and earning something by paying for it aren’t comparable. With one you feel an actual sense of accomplishment. With the other, well, you got a new shiny. I honestly hate that so many things can be bought with gold/gems/cash. It’s why I have so little respect for legendaries right now, but fractal skins are much more impressive to me. BLTC skins? Meh. And although it is mostly just grinding, luminescent armor will always have some respect from me. That takes a bit of effort to get and you can’t just buy it.
We all have our opinions, and that’s just my take on it. Yours is obviously different, as I can see, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I feel accomplished when I reach any goal I set, regardless of the journey to the end. Heck, I waited for laurels to get the powerful blood I needed to get the Book of Secrets skin (took me about two months of waiting around) and it felt great to finally have it, and I still use it.
Just enjoy the game the way you want, and everyone else will do the same. Also, if you have any ideas on how to improve rewards and how to get them, suggest away! I’m always happy to contribute

JPs are evil for someone with reflex problems and issues with depth perception. Oh and no, I don’t stand in the orange circles, I very rarely die at Tequatl actually and if I do die, it’s called a waypoint :p Now if I had to make a pinpoint jump onto a small stick.. yeah, I would be dead all the time because my eyes and hands don’t work as well as I wish they would.
That said – JPs are never going to be removed. Friendly mesmers though are always about to help people get those vistas that require a JP.
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
I’ll port you to any vista you want. Contact me in game.
