since the sept 16 patch went live, i’ve noticed all my framerates in world boss fights have dropped to 13fps or less if i’m within 1200 range of the zerg. before the patch, i was easily running 30-40fps in the middle of the zerg.

i ran with the train and fought ulgoth, shatterer, shadow behemoth, tequatl, jungle wurm, golem mk II, jormag, and frozen maw. not in that order of course.

the game also crashed several times throughout the train, including once at Ulgoth, and another atteq. i don’t remember where the other crash or two occured. i always send anet the report for their techies to peruse.

several guildmates also mentioned that thier framerates in dungeons have significantly dropped from 60fps before the patch, to 5 fps after the patch.

i also noticed that mini’s were still being displayed in the middle of the Zerg, so i’m curious if that has anything to do with. a guildmate suggested there may be some testing on anet’s end concerning performance issues at both extremes of when to cull the mini’s.

if mini’s are the culprit, and even if they’re not, may i offer a suggestion to have each player’s client render the mini’s based on user graphics settings. such as
[always display only my mini]
[always display everybody’s mini (subject to culling)]
[only render party mini’s]

i presume the mini’s are already part of the player side client (like how the images and descriptions for items on TP are on the player’s client) perhaps the same tech could be modified to enhance server performance by offloading mini rendering and physics to be handled by the player’s client? and then furhter performance improvements on the player’s client based on the graphic settings used above?

Come to think of it, I feel like my performance was even worse today. I thought it was my computer. The 9/9 patch did a number on my FPS as well and I know numerous other people had problems. I turned my settings way down to manage the 9/9 FPS problems until they get fixed, but I hope it isn’t getting even worse… I can’t really turn my graphics down any further.

Or words to that effect.

I usually run with graphics at the highest setting possible, and have never had any problems with rendering or framerates until the 9/9 patch. Now, if I’m going into wvw or anywhere else where there are going to be a ton of particle effects, I have to turn my graphics down to “best performance”, which I swear to you is like playing the game with a Mattise filter on. Seriously, it’s sort of trippy, but I miss crisp clear graphics.

But since the patch, my choices are either “zerg with Mattisse” or “stunning graphics in maps so empty that you’re constantly being asked to move to a more populated map.”

Nothing on my end changed, my drivers are all up to date, graphics card diagnostics, processor and ram and net diagnostics show my system running fast, clean and cool. It’s something on the programming side.

Running the game on the exact same graphics as before the patch (auto detect) is resulting in the kind of lag I only used to get when running the game on highest graphics. If I want any kind of decent frame rate it’s potato mode or nothing. I only used to need potato mode for big wvw zergs and pvp :

It’s come to the point that even with the best performance graphics I get less than 10 fps in zerg fights unfortunately. It’s keeping me from playing to my full potential in wvw.

There is some funkiness I notice but still plays better than before the 9/9 patch. I think there is a problem with the interweb itself.

Well I am from UK, and I am experiencing lag in game. I also dont see many players online when i hover my mouse over their name in chat.

There is a big issue of picking up items. I run past it and then try to pick it up

it all happened after the patch except the online thingie that kinda from the begining of the game.

I’m not really seeing a performance increase or decrease, my PC plays the game on mid settings and since the update I haven’t seen the performance change: game still grinds to a FPS halt in boss fights or high density areas.
