I can’t help but think you were originally able to get 200 slots total if using 20 slot bags and had all slots unlocked. I only ever unlocked all the slots on one character and I quit playing it for nearly a year so I might not remember correctly as it currently only has 160 max (before shared inventory slots).

The only change since launch has been the addition of shared slots.

There have always been 8 bag slots, for a total of 8×20=160 inventory slots. As Danikat said, the only new slots are a few inventory slots that are account-wide (but that are like 5 I believe, bringing it up to 165).

“New characters begin with five bag slots and a Starter Backpack equipped in the first slot. Up to three further bag slots can be purchased through the Gem Store, for a total of eight bag slots per character.”
