Hello Arenanet,

I just have an opinion to spew. I know you have been happily reading all the response to the Feature Pack and this is just one of many. I have a point in stepping away from the discontent.

Guild Wars had an introduction in Prophecies that was tops.
I got a chance to learn about the games mechanics and try out the profession combinations before moving on.
When I did move on, The Seaing really kept me invested in the long term.

However, I still didn’t understand enough about the game to do well. I made it all the way to Yak’s Bend, clueless as to what I was doing wrong. Turning to my guild mates for help, they taught me how to improve my strategy, challenges to come, and what to expect after level caps and endgame.

With all the anger and frustration over updates, it is important to note that holding someone’s hand does not guarantee clarity. We must have time to sort out mistakes on our own, or at least find ways to deal with issues we run into. Guildmates who I have asked about why they quit playing Guild Wars 2, didn’t do so because the game introduced new concepts. They quit because there wasn’t a “Follow” option, No Guild Halls, No face to face trading system.

I have played since launch, and if ever there was a concept or feature that brought me confusion, there is this huge community that we have that is responsive to inquiring
players, offer detailed guides and advice. Removing a feature like a downed state removes that first impression of the game’s best feature: The community at large.
Sure, it was a surprise when it first occurs, but another player coming in to revive you was really cool. That players look out for each other. That in an entire map, there are a few will step up and organize an event for everyone to participate in. Someone asks for help, and get prompt responses, links or someone to WP to them. Mesmers offering portals. Map Completion groups.
A lot of “Please” and “Thank you” in chat.

First impressions are everything.
The first contact a new player has doesn’t have to be immersion breaking or behind gated content.

Every time you say Prophecies and Searing, it makes me want to play Guild Wars.

I wonder if I still have it installed on this computer?

I’m curious about something to do with guilds.
I’ve played GW1 (but haven’t completed all the campaigns) and have been playing GW2 for about a month now.
I understand that you can join multiple guilds and decide which you want to represent. So, there are no guild halls? And no guild capes?
Aside from having your guild initials after your name and being able to talk to your guildmates, are there any other benefits or features in the game that come from you being a member of a guild?

Guilds with enough influence can have bonuses for gathering, karma XP and magic find. They also allow for participation in Guild Puzzle and Rushes.
The place where you can usually see your guild logo, however, is if you use a Guild armor skin on your character.

Thanks. I’d see Guild Puzzles around the map and someone in my guild mentioned them. Good to know you can still “wear your colours” if you want.

Pro-tip: you can do Guild Puzzle and Guild Rush even if it’s not your guild that activated it. I helped a guild with a puzzle once. And, the cool thing is that I really did help them because not all of their players were in the right place.

I also joined a Guild Rush that I just happened upon while heading to something else. It was fun.
