No, I do a ton of dmg on those embers yet only half of them actually drop a chest.
Some embers I’m hitting for a minute with everything I have and the tag doesn’t recognise. Others I hit once just before they die and get a chest.

This tagging mechanic is horribly broken. And when you ask about it in map chat everyone’s all like “run a build that doesn’t suck bla bla bla”

I followed the zerg here and there, and it was some fun, but it’s not my preferred way to play.

Besides it ceased being any fun at all when the “anti-farmers” showed up and violated the ToS by doing exactly what they were decrying…disrupting the game for others.

Good Job, kittens.

No, but instigating bad behavior in others is. Do you honestly think people would be completing the event if there weren’t 100 other people trying to fail it? Once this is nerfed the event wont ever be touched again, and you know it.

No.

It rewards brainless berserker players who have rolled the classes best suited for DPS in PvE. No risk, lots of loot if you’re in a party so the damage requirement to be qualified for the loot is low.

There’s people making hundreds of gold in a few days from intentionally holding back an event from being completed. Meanwhile, players who have played all dungeons and all paths per day get less money a week.

It’s old CoF path 1 on steroids. Still repetitive with skill lag and hard culling, no skill involved and tons of harassment if you actually want to complete the event. The only risk being an easily avoidable ground targeted attack the embers cast that nobody will resurrect you from if you’re downed, costing you a few silver and a 40 second walk back to the embers.

I’m feeling so left out of all the forum farm rage on this – I go down to Anchorage and it’s just a bunch of embers floating around by themselves, as it has been every time I’ve passed by during this event. There’s less action in Orr on my server than usual – so enjoying it? I wish!

It’s the same with champ farming in Frostgorge. I read all the hype about everybody doing the loot train thing there, so go look and… nothing. Champs swimming, strolling, maybe taking a nap, while players farm the Pavilion.

To be fair there is a zerg doing Queensdale. We can count four or five as a zerg can’t we?

I was completing CS map and also doing my PS which happened to be in the camp where everyone congregated. I didn’t realise right away why so many ppl were there. Although i’ve heard ppl talk about this event i didn’t know exactly where it was but anyway, the ember event started, so i joined in.

It was crazy. I fought dozens of champs there and only finished up with 3 bags/boxes or whatever they are. The event was still going when i left, it seems kinda pointless. I’m not the one to scream for rewards but when after such an intense event and so many champs to get virtually 0 drops seems rather weird. everywhere else i fought champs i always get the bag drops including pavilion so yea something definitely wrong there.

Haven’t done the embers yet, as Anchorage has been uncontested whenever I went to CS. Did do the CS champ rotation on 2 occasions, that was ok.

However, I preferred the champs in Frostgorge. Did the rotation there quite a bit over the weekend in big zergs. Champs were going down in under10 seconds, so if you were slowed down at all in traveling between them, or took 1 or 2 extra secs collecting loot, you would miss out on the next champ.

The main challenge was in keeping up so you got to the next champ in time ..

Completing a Dynamic Event constitutes a violation of the ToS?

No, it does not. You missed the whole point of my text.

What I was saying is that those who grief are in the wrong, no matter which side of the coin they’re on.

All I said was that the “anti farmers” are not better than the farmers. I said nothing about those who are legitimately trying to progress through the event.

There is another nerdrage thread about Ember Farming, so we don’t need to start all over again here.

Firstly, why does running berserker = brainless, and secondly, you do realise that every single class excluding mesmer is best suited to DPS don’t you?

Well, this event was regularly completed before the recent patch. It’s only since the patch that I’ve actually seen Anchorage held by the risen.

Quit after testing it for a couple of hours when I got tired/bored of spamming 1 on staff guard.

Somewhat enjoyed it because it brings in more t5, t6 & exotics into the game to balance how much gold is being generated.

Farmed DE instead this weekend for better gold. Even with some risk of actually dying, it still got boring after a couple of hours

Gave it a spin last night for an hour or so, and all up I’d say yea it was fun.

The event itself is a confusing glare-fest of spamming my rotation on invisible enemies, avoiding red circles, ressing the downed, and watching champs melt before I could tag them.
Oh and occasional looting, made about 3g in coin + mats (tho I wasn’t really trying, just there to see what the fuss all was – spent most of my time ressing others and dodging).

What made it fun was the sense of community – the chatter whilst waiting, box’s of fun, and everyone focused on a common goal. More lively than LA at noon.

I don’t think Ember’s suited to all profs – you’ll need to be decently kitted out.
I found that DPS gear gave better loot + survivability than MF; as pointed out above, zerker Guardians would do best.

I’ll give it another run, but if I want to farm I’ll do a more relaxed round of regular champs, or Pavilion.
What was nice about this one (in terms of loot) is that there’s rarely anything of value other than Gilded Coffers (but plenty of them), whereas in Pavilion it’s green drops that make the bulk of the reward so I’m often limited by bag capacity.

I think the point was that spamming 1 in full zerkers with a guardian staff is brainless.

The first time I did it was by accident. Then it struck me that THIS was the event that everyone had been talking/complaining about. That was the only zerg I ever joined; I left after just one run.

The rewards are nice but no, I didn’t enjoy it; Mainly because of the deliberate fail. To me, it felt too much like exploiting A-net’s poor game design.

Never done it, as a lowly unbalanced Ranger(the only character I run) that does squat for damage compared to other classes doesn’t register enough damage in large zergs to get kitten and isn’t worth wasting my time. If only ANET would show a little love to this class so we could get some of the good stuff.

I enjoyed the gold I made and all the items I got to dump in the mystic toilet. I like all the ectos I got from breaking down all the rares as well. I was disappointed in the exotics I got as they were all cheap. I was hoping for some nicer ones.

I enjoy the large group of people working together at something even if it was mindless farming. Anet did say that they were happy to see large groups working together as well, but I don’t think this quite what they wanted. I don’t think they’ll nerf it though, at least not the way the complainers think they will. I think we will finally see events themselves become more rewarding, and that is a very good thing.

Nope. I did like the coin though, along with the occasional exotic or lodestone that would pop up on the loot scroll as I’m clicking boxes. 30ish boxes per successful run was a bit dumb though. I hadn’t farmed in months so I had some tolerance for the boredom, and I probably will continue for a short while after the next most efficient Champ farm rotation gets running just to pad the coffers a bit more.
