Which did you play more of if you played both games? This is a comparision of my mains

Guild Wars 2. I often went weeks without playing Guild Wars 1, I rarely miss a day here. I turn gw1 on now, run out into a map, kill a couple of things, stand there for a few minutes then log out. I think it’s because there is no one in the map with me. It feels barren. No map chat. No one to see. No one asking how to get to skill point by [waypoint]. And after playing all those years, I can’t even remember how to target something without clicking on them. Plus no dodging or moving while casting. That really bugs me.

Guild Wars 2.
Even though I’d bought GW, and all it’s expansions, I got lost in other MMOs (WoW mainly) and even though I still dabble…GW2 is kinda my main atm.

I played GW1 more. Much more. I don’t have it installed to check the hours, but I played for 7 years. For GW2 I think it’s roughly 1,300 hours since head start. I don’t see that number increasing anytime soon.

It makes me sad thinking about how awesome GW2 could’ve been had Anet kept the core design from GW1.

from what i can remember i had about 3k hours on gw1 in over 5years playtime , i often didn play weeks/months because i played other mmos (aion,ragnarok etc) and after i got my titel of “gods walking among mere mortals” i stoped playing at all, till they introduced hom , with that i played a bit more to get 50/50 and was done preaty quickly and after that i quit gw1 for good

in gw2 i have now 4k hours of playtime since launch , i dont get bored of that game , i have times where i enjoy wvw very much and play only wvw then i get bored of it and start playing pve again and then sometimes i want a champion titel for a class and i play manly tpvp, so i always have something different to do and now i am working on my 3rd legendary and on my champion maga titel, always busy

ps: the only game that could get me away from gw2 is propably blade & soul, but who knows when that launch in EU /US..

Gw2…all the way, even if I have some “periods of low activity” when I get bored, i never stop playing, never took any break, still log in every day.
Way too often in Gw1 I would rage-quit quite harshly due to failing something right in the end (mainly personal story before getting proper heroes/builds/skills).

GW1.

I was on track to bypass my GW1 play time until certain specific changes to GW2 made playing it for more than a few minutes at a time an unpleasant experience.

I was on GW1 for 2.5 years, my first and best MMO. As for GW 2, it’s been only 3 month and I’m bored of it. I don’t know why it was changed so much, GW1 had the winning formula.

GW2

I too bought all expansions, but other MMOs took my attention away too many times, or i’d get frustrated with some content with GW1. GW2 just keeps me locked in.

Guild Wars: 746 hours over the past 106 months.

Guild Wars 2: 1,295 hours over the past 624 days.

Hard to compare them, I played GW1 all the time until I got GW2 and now I play it all the time, not because I like it better, but because the population for GW1 is not there, making it harder to do things that take a group, well I could hero things, but some things are much better with a group or even require one.

Guild Wars 1 kept me more engaged in the game with re-playable content. Guild Wars 2 lacks in re-playable content.

GW1: 10541 hours
GW2: 4213 hours

So easily GW1. But that 7 years at the point when GW2 was released. So maybe you should ask in 5 years again. Then you can honestly compare

Guild Wars by far. There’s no way GW2 can entertain me for as long as the original did.
If they both had equal population today, I’d be spending all my time in GW1.

I used to play GW1 at least a little bit almost every day, and I played it for about 5 years. Now I do the same with GW2, but obviously over less time because it hasn’t been out that long.

But I think that means I like GW2 more. When this game came out I intended to keep playing GW1 as well, but I find myself very rarely going back, even though I still have things to do. When I do I’m reminded both why I loved it and played it for years and why I now play GW2 more.

It’s still a great game, but there’s more GW2 features I miss when I go back than things from GW1 I miss when playing this game.

I have more hours in GW2 than in GW1 and I’ve been playing both since their release. Although in GW1 I rarely had any afk time, while in GW2 I have to afk a lot (and alt-tab)
