Did you recognize any of the places?
I recognize places all the time. Makes me want to go back and play GW when I see them.
I always mention it to my guildies and then they promptly tell me to end the tour of Tyria cause we got stuff to do.
250 years in the real world have been historically more than enough to change the global environment completely, unless there is a conscious effort to preserve certain places.
I’d be more concerned if you can still actually recognize many places in GW2 from GW1, after they claim that the setting is 250 years later.
I played GW1 for 6 years and there are only 2 areas that were nostalgic to me, the Dukes place in the plains of ashford and the old LA town center that is under water.
Most places are totally “new world” like the fractal where you play as a charr taking over Ascalon; that is NOT Ascalon :P
