Different values in "Gold to Gems".
Are you 4 silver isn’t 1.73 gems being rounded down?

The system doesn’t give fractions of gems, or “change” like “here’s 1 gem and 30 copper” so anything extra is lost. 3s = 1 gem, 5s = 2 gems, 4s = 1 gem + tip.
Also gem values are dynamic, sometimes when I’m exchanging gold for gems the values change dramatically mid-transaction. Such as, I want 500 gems and put in 10g 15s 30c and see 502 gems, so I lower it to 10g 13s 30c and the value changes to 490 gems, dropping more than 2s should change the total. Then I go back to the original value and it’s only worth 496 gems.
Depending on what else is happening with other players, gem values can change quickly. If someone wants to buy a precursor weapon and buys $100 worth of gems, then converts them into gold while you’re checking the prices, it’s going to have some small effect on the gem prices. A dozen people doing the same thing within 5 min will have a larger effect.

233 silver for 100 gems
233/100= 2 silver 33 coper
And I don’t get a single gem even for 3 silver

Might as well learn now, it might be handy later.
It’s not truncation or floor functions. I did a quick test earlier.
5G would give me 212 gems.
4G would give me 170 gems.
At that ratio I should be about to get 1 gem for around 2s 36c. Like the OP it wouldn’t even register. I could get 5 gems for about 11s 80c but the ratio breaks down as I try for a single gem. It’s odd.

The value of 1 gem changes on the fly dependent on the amount of gems and the amount of gold traded on the BLTC. If more players are selling gems than buying gems, the value in gold slowly declines, and ther everse is true if more people are buying gems than selling them.
That the price fluctuates so much is very indicative of how many players are using the currency exchange.
I still want an option to say that I’m buying 200 gems, instead of trying to hit the sweet spot and having the prices change on me constantly while I’m doing it.
This may be helpful for some of you

Yes I know but it wouldn’t register 3s for 1 gem and the exchange rate was never that high. But 5 gems had the same exchange rate, within a copper, of over 200 gems.
It’s as if there is a penalty if you try to get only 1 gem (didn’t try values under 5 gems other than 1).
