Different ways to buy weapons and armor?

I have become quickly over whelmed. There seems to be a large amount of differant types of trade able goods or currency with which you can acquire armor and weapons from vendors in this game.

In the inventory all you see is karma, gold and laurels what ever they are, but at the different vendors I have seen there are other collectibles you need to get the armor, for instance the vendors in LA at the fort.

This is way to convoluted I think, I should not be getting confused just trying to buy stuff. IMO they did a bad job with this.

But any way can any one try to explain all the different types of currency or trade goods or collectibles or rewards that are used to buy armor and weapons?

Thank you.

Are you pre-level 80.

Karma is earned by doing good stuff for others. Completing hearts, events, etc. You also get jugs of liquid karma by completing your daily and monthly achievements. The amount of Karma you get from these jugs scales based one your level, so if you get any save them for level 80. Karma can be exchanged for weapons and gear at karma vendors, but generally I recommend saving your karma until you get to level 80.

Copper / Silver / Gold can be used to buy weapons and armor from vendors but DON’T. White colored stuff is trash and you can usually buy better equipment through the trading post. You can access the TP by hitting the ‘O’ key. Search for what you want and you’ll see other people have offered it for sale. If it looks expensive you can place a buy order.

Dungeon tokens are earned by running dungeons. The dungeon tokens can be used to buy rare / exotic armor and exotic weapons from vendors in Lion’s Arch. Each dungeon has its own tokens and its own vendor.

Badges of Honor are earned from doing different stuff in WvW. They are mostly drops from killing other players or certain NPC bosses. They can be exchanged for weapons and armor in the WvW maps.

Laurels are a time gated mechanism that are granted upon completion of the daily and monthly. They can be used for buying ascended stuff from a laurel vendor.

Fractal Relics are like dungeon tokens earned for completing fractals. Pristine Fractal Relics are earned once per day for completing different fractals even numbered in ranges (I don’t run fractals but I think it’s levels 10-18, 20-28, etc…) They can be exchanged for Ascended Rings.

Is there something I’m forgetting?

I actually have a lvl 80 guardian, but I just started a new warrior. Most of my trip to lvl 80 was just doing map completion and the story, so I was not very active in trying to get new armor till now.

Ok, then an addedum to the Karma stuff. You can use Karma to get temple armor http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armageddon_armor

Dungeon Armor is also available only in different stat combinations, for example, the crucible of eternity armor only comes in Beserker’s, Rampager’s, and Traveler’s stats. If you’re confused about stats and prefixes they explain it here.
