Hi everyone,

Bought this game over a year ago and I’ve been playing on and off ever since – mainly solo play. Which was great while leveling but for some reason has become incredibly frustrating since I hit level 80.

Many events, skill points, areas are just impossible to do alone. I realise that you are supposed to work together with passerby’s to ‘zerg rush’ the event, but what happens when there’s nobody to help? My World says it has a Very High population, but I never see anyone. I live in Australia, so I can only assume everyone is asleep. There is no Oceanic server for me to play with those who are awake.

I die very often. All the temples and most of the waypoints are contested when I log on, so dying usually involves walking across half the area to try again. Sometimes I can retake a waypoint in an event, but it is usually lost in an event soon after.

Is there no scaling to account for the number of players online? Is it even possible to play alone?

What can I do? At the moment I’m guesting on some other worlds to see if they’re better populated. I can’t guest on the European servers (which may be better for me) without paying for it, which I won’t do just to make the game playable.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?

Message ingame when you want to team, as I am available 17:00 EDST (Im from Melbourne) to 21:00EDST

Another option is join a reasonably high Guild which can team with you.

Guest to Blackgate.

I’m an off-hours player as well, found that I could do pretty much any event during that time by guesting.

What server are you on? I’m in Oz as well and there’s plenty of people on in the evening. There’s so many options for adventuring though that everyone is spread all over.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

I finally got my 8th char to complete his world map last night (well tbh still 1 more wvw map I have to wait to be the right colour for but still) and doing all 8 I have not seen too many cases where you can’t really solo your way through. Having said that my 1st 7 chars were all “Survival builds” and had no issues, this last one I decided to play “berserker” and only in Orr I had a few problems.

Those Ash legion spy kits helped me in most of those cases however, so you could give those a try. Failing that if those who have offered to help you are not online feel free to send me an in game message and I’ll help out to. I’m in NZ so we should pretty much play same-ish time zone.

Good Luck!

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Most events can be solo’d, outside of world bosses, temples (depends on scaling) and the karka stuff (doable, but so fustrating). Are you in full exotics/using a build that is good for pve?

In that timezone on Tarnished Coast there are normally people around, or atleast people in LA who may help out. Otherwise the higher tier WVW servers like Blackgate and JQ have decent coverage. SOS also has a high oceanic population. Try guesting and see if there is a server you enjoy being on.

Good luck~

Orr is not designed to be soloed, and the temple bosses take a small to medium size raid to succeed (for the most part), and I find the mechanics difficult to learn from observing an encounter. Grenth I still don’t get, even though it’s been explained to me multiple times.

At this point in gameplay you have probably learned to outrun mobs you don’t absolutely need, as well as defensive movement skill (not just evading, but constant movement and stepping out of harm’s way instinctively). I would encourage you do to Orr only in Exotics which have enough toughness and vitality that you can survive a few hits from anything short of a raid boss.

That having been said, I have world complete on both my warrior and my elementalist, and did much of the Orr exploration solo (albeit on Blackgate during U.S. play hours).

You can solo a few world bosses, including temple ones.

Join a guild. I’m in Australia too, and there’s usually someone in guild chat to help at all hours. If not, it’s not long before someone is, even if I have to come back to it later.

Sea of Sorrow is the unofficial Oceanic server.

I’m in a huge guild made of Aussies and Kiwis [AUNZ] – and given we are all in the same timezone guild chat flows non-stop.

When I get that feeling I want… spectral healing.

Yeah defiantly, I have solo’d Golem/Maw/Fire Ele or atleast most of the way before some interfered. It’s just not something one would want to do every day… especially when they want more people to play with.
