So, I logged today as usual, started doing some events in Orr with my Guardian (I like that place), and was going around killing stuff and doing events while thinking of a new build and something. I’ve been online for 3 to 4h approximately.

And then when I was on my way to the Grenth’s chain… I noticed I started getting half or less than half the event rewards.

At first I was like “wtf?” because I think it’s the first time I noticed being hit by the DR everyone talks on the forums about. Never bothered me, until today.

So, I guess this should be affecting drops as well right?
And what am I supposed to do, quit the game and come back tomorrow?

This DR system should be seriously revamped… if they say it’s to punish botters and exploiters, well, get rid of them and don’t implement a system that can hurt legitimate players…

You get more gold from moldy bags than rares, which aren’t even hit by DR, so it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

I play for an hour in wayfarers doing the general events, maw, worm eggs, lodge, wolf master along with the dome, escorts and those raptures and I’ll have hit dumbinishing returns and have to do something else till it resets…

We need an icon when it is in affect, only makes sense, no? It does feel like DRM… “only punishing legit customers”.

given how effective anet has been in the campaign against RMT, perhaps it’s time to ease up or even remove dr?

DR was originally a stopgap measure for dealing with bots farming – events, mobs, and resources. Since then, anet has developed the necessary methods to detect and remove bots/hack abusers. Bot trains are far less prevalent than before; rmt spam has gone down significantly in volume. There are few (if any) script-afk farmers for repeating events, unlike before (bridge in kessex, shorebluff in harathi come to mind); those farming events are real players playing now.

It seems like DR is now a means of slowing player progress, rather than combating bot trains as was the original intent. That being said, it should be removed – or we (that is, Anet) should begin a discussion on what problems DR is combating now, and alternative solutions.
