Diminishing Returns While Farming Mobs
Corsair CX500 PSU, Kingston V300 60GB SSD
Its an invisible number that works opposite of Magic Find.
You kill a mob, you kill it again and again, you start to generate this number, after you accumulate a lot of this number you start to get less and less items dropping.
Doing events, Killing different types of mobs will greatly help in keeping this number low.
If you see yourself getting DR do a couple things
- Zone in a different map
- Kill completely different mobs
- Do events
- Spend about 20-30min doing the above
DR doesnt really effect most players, there really isnt alot of Mob farming in gw2.
Basically, don’t idle in one place doing the same event over and over. If you were to play in Orr and hang around Cursed Shore, but only do Plinx over and over again as it (eventually) restarts itself, then you might run into DR. If you play in Cursed Shore and run all over the map doing many different events and killing all the champions, you’ll be fine.
The only time I’ve ever run into DR is in the Mad King’s Labyrinth, which as a small self-contained area is going to inflict DR faster than other locations would.
DR can hit you by running around the entire CS map and doing events/killing mobs.
My guardian has hit DR hard there. The last month, I’ve used him during our regular Tuesday night CS farming guild event. The last couple times I have received way more porous bones than heavy moldy bags. He hasn’t been moved from CS so that is the issue, as I am aware. This is from farming many events on the map, not just the same event. I just skipped our weekly guild event in CS this week because I know the DR is still kicking in heavy on him.
So it does happen, and with some regularity. Some would have you believe differently, but it’s an issue if you have an ALT dedicated for farming purposes like this.
