I’ve been playing quite a bit of Silverwastes lately (who hasn’t?), and I’ve noticed something peculiar. If I participate in the Foothold meta event, I start getting Diminishing Returns after completing about 10 events.

At first I thought it was because my elementalist didn’t ever leave the zone. After doing a bunch of ascended crafting and some Living Story on it in The Grove, I returned to the Silverwastes. Still, I was soon hit by Diminishing Returns, getting almost no loot from enemies (even spawns unrelated to events) and extremely low event rewards.

When I’m playing in the Silverwastes, I run in circles between the four forts, doing escorts, defending, wall rebuilding and veterans whenever I run into them.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to avoid getting DR during the meta event, or is this just a mechanic I’ll have to accept?

From personal experience, Mordrem mobs drop little to no loot. You just get the bags of loot from the event chests awarded, as well as successful Breaches and Vinewrath battles. The one juicy piece of gear I got was a Dire shield which works wonders with my engineer thus far.

Indeed, I got extremely low karma and like 9 copper from completing events.

Ok .. that is really the usual DR result. Never got that in SV .. normally it only
happens if you repeat the same events in a very small are for over an hour.

And you are surprised that doing the exact same event 10 times in a row triggered DR? That action pretty much defines why DR was added.

Yes I know. The search for a beta portal is strong but it doesn’t surprise me. Try doing a different area of the map.

That’s why I was so surprised: I did not do only one event. I ran in circles around the Silverwastes, doing any event I came across. Still, I got DR in the form of low event rewards.

Well it is a smallish map. Leave the map, take a break, get something to eat, and then try again.

There are two ways to hit DR in SW. there is the karma/silver DR from completing events. This usually sets in about 30 minutes into playing. There is also DR on the completion bonus chests. After about 45 minutes the maximum crest from a bonus chest drops from 25 down to 8, and you start averaging closer to 2-3 per chest.

It is very odd since the entire purpose of the zone is to run around and complete and defend places yet you are punished for doing so… Best thing to do is chest farm, there is no DR on that.

If your just going for the portal drop, why not mix it up witht he other zone too? having a mental blank on it’s name right now. Then go back when that also hits DR? May work, may not but worth a try I guess,

Sorry, I have to disagree with you here…I can do SW all day long…way more than 10 events in a row….and NEVER hit DR, EVER. This could be up to 7 – 8 hours or more on off days, what does happen, is that events DO NOT always reward a bonus chest, that is normal and has been happening since day 1. As for Karma/Gold drop off, never have seen this issue as you describe it.
