So with the great grindfest that is the Queen’s Pavillion in full swing and me wanting to take full advantage of it, I’ve gotten to thinking about DR and realized I really don’t know much of the specifics of it (and the wiki doesn’t offer up much either). I’ve seen conflicting facts about stuff like how fast it takes effect, how to get rid of it, and so on.

I’ve got one character with full MF gear (while the rest have normal gear) so obviously I’d want to mainly focus on that one character as far as farming the Pavillion mobs. But I’m unsure about the best way to do that because I don’t really understand any of the specifics of DR.

Lets say I use my MF character to grind mobs for an hour in the Pavillion. An hour is usually the amount of time I see thrown around for when DR kicks in, so that seems about right I suppose.

After I do that, how do I clear my DR out?

Can I switch to an alt, go hang out for a while in another zone, then switch back to my MF character (who’s still sitting in the Pavillion in this case) and farm again unhindered?

Or is the DR tied to the character, meaning I’d have to actually bring my MF character out of the Pavillion and do something else with him specifically?

How long does it actually take to completely clear DR? An hour?

Do I need to be killing other enemies during that time period outside of Queen’s Pavillion, or can I do other stuff like playing a minigame, jumping puzzles, or doing some crafting?

Does shutting the game down for a certain amount of time reset DR as well, or do you have to be playing the game to get rid of it? Like, if I just finished an hour of Pavillion grinding and I go to bed, get up tomorrow morning and start the game up, can I farm the Pavillion again right away? Or will the DR still be there since I wasn’t doing anything with the game?

Also, not really relevant to Pavillion grinding specifically since its all one area, but for the sake of other areas, just how far do you have to go to avoid getting DR in the first place? Do you have to go to a completely different zone every hour, or does moving a certain distance away do it just fine? If its distance, can you jump between 2 different areas of the same map every 30 minutes (for example) and keep DR from kicking in, or will DR still build up regardless?

Any help understanding this mechanic would be appreciated. Hopefully there’s not some amazing resource that explains everything I’ve just overlooked, though if there is then by all means point me towards it and laugh at me.

We know little about it and for good reason. Due to you would be mostly doing the events once you notice DR kick in there it is time to leave and go do something else for a while. That being said I don’t know if DR kicks in for the Pavilion as it was designed as a farming area and most of the mobs are Vets and legendary.

I’m pretty sure the Pavillion is still affected by DR, I noticed a pretty distinct drop-off in my loot after being there for a while continuously. Though luck being what it is, it could have been coincidence as well, hard to say for certain.

I spent 2 hours in Pavilion last night, didn’t note any change in drops. I made like 10-15 gold just merching my boat load of greens and junk. Not sure how much from the yellows I threw on the TP (5 or 6 of them), since I didn’t check that before I logged out. Figure I can pick that up when I log on tonight for a couple of hours.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I noticed a pretty large dropoff in drops after a while, but it seemed a lot better after I left the Pavilion and came back. I’m not using any MF gear, but still made like 7 or 8g in ~2 hours today.

I’m very certain about these DR theories:
-DR is based on a certain # of kills of the same mob type
-DR is account bound
-DR affects the drop rate of exotics, rares and greens. They also affect certain items, like Heavy Moldy Bags (this wasn’t the case until about 4-5 months ago)
-DR does not affect the drop rate of blue/white items
-DR is a gradual diminishing return. It’s not an instantly diminished drop rate.

These are my unconfirmed and personal observations on DR theories
-DR reset might be based on a 24 hour reset
-DR reset might be based on killing other mob types based on # of kills

i.e. If I kill 200 risen mobs, I will get hit by DR. To reset it, I could try going to FSG and killing 100 icebroods, and this may reset it. Or I could just wait for 24 hours.

As someone who farmed Pav for 10 hrs last night.

Was getting 10g/hr, then after a couple hours it dropped off.

There is DR. So if you want to do it, probably max 4hrs, then you gotta do something else to reset the DR.
