Disabilities And The New Content
If you’re NA I’ll be glad to help run you through the story, as in, join your instance(s) and help clobber things. I just need a bit of a food break now.
Please add me to your friends list and ping me when you see me on later if you’d like some hired (for free) muscle. I finally have a Tuesday I can be on the computer!
I’d be glad to help you out, too. Add me to your list and contact me in game if you like.
Happy to help too, have most evenings free.
Hope you find someone to help you in game.
Its hard to do things ( not only play ) with some kind of serious disability.
But you have to realise that if they catter to people with disability ( which is a really really tiny % of the playerbase ) it will make the game boring for most of the player base, its not viable.
I have seen a few references in this forum concerning a Hard/Easy mode for this game, but I still do now understand why this is not possible. This would solve the problem for people like me. Anet could scale the rewards down for the easy mode to be fair.
Anything is possible … if you can find a way to justify the development cost.

The problem here is that a lot of the things in the game aren’t easily “scaleable” – you can work with mob HP and stats but things like gliding on a ley-line, jumping off things and other ways of environmental interaction are just dichotomous by nature – you can either do them or you can’t.
Theoretically a more streamlined – more “cinematic” experience with little input required from the player could be made but you have to ask yourself is it really worth the development time?
It wouldn’t be something you could just “slap together easy” – it would mean fundamental redesigns to areas and entire game systems and mechanics to make them work with situations such as yours. That would require a LOT of developer time. And it would be great for you – and some others – but I have a feeling not very many would benefit from it – so I doubt they will do it.
I do understand how you feel – I’m sorry you feel you’re losing the game. Maybe find some friends to help you out?
As a blind player, I get this. However, I understand that developers can’t maike drastic changes to the game so that any blind person can pick it up ang go with it. I adapt my playstyle to my blidness (I played the game for 2-3 years before losing my vision).
As for new contect, I don’t really play it on my own. It seems like there a many people willing to help you and that’s what’s great about this community. Ask around for help and someone will.
And in case anyone is wondering, I play by sound mostly. There are audio cues for almost everything in the game.
Yeah OP, add me and msg if you see me online, if I can help I surely will.
Hmm Taimi’s Game was pretty easy … on a reaper anyway. You know there is a thing to get rid of all the fire on the ground right?
Implementing an easy mode for instanced content would actually be very trivial. They just scale up/boost/buff your character. Every time you time, stack the boost higher. It’s not possible in the open world however, as it would require a separated map, and it isn’t a good idea to split the players. In both cases, the current option to easy mode is by simply bringing more people. Group for the story and zerg the open world.
Willing to help just let me know.
If you happen to be playing in eu id love to help you out, just send me an ingame message when i am online
Ive got arthritis in both hands and major fights are very hard, but Ive been able to alleviate the problems a bit by using a G700 mouse and G105 keyboard and having macros bound to the mouse and keyboard buttons.
Reduces the amount of keyboard mashing needed.
Still cant compete with a normal player, but at least I can stay alive longer.
MMOs are co-op games by nature.
That being said I understand the enjoyment of Solo play very much.
But if you’re not capable for one reason or another, and want either an easier experience, or to just see the story; just ask in map, or open an LFG. There are tons of people willing to help usually.
Most of the mechanics for the new content wont keep you from completing it even if you go down. Pulling aggro isn’t so bad with patient people.

Thank you to all who have taken the time to reply to my rant.
I have found someone to run around with and I really appreciate all the offers of help.
After re-reading my original statement, and all the responses, I can see that I was “whining” a little. This was not my intent, but it is what it is. I should of taken a little more time before I posted this. Thanks again for pointing this out.

I have no disability except not having played platformers or any twitch-based games before GW2, and Taimi’s Game was hard for me. I was sooo happy that they put checkpoints in the instance so that I didn’t have to start over from the beginning every time I died. Yes I knew about the strategies and tactics, I’m just bad at twitch-games. If Anet had added these checkpoints to the boss fights of the Personal Story and Living Story, I might have actually completed one of the storylines by now instead of giving up!
Anyway, I can’t imagine how someone with a hand disability plays – kudos to the OP!

Tell me about it! I can count on one hand when I have broken any armor before getting it repaired and this instance was the first time that broke everything. After that buying the zone scroll immediately was a no-brainer right after I made sure that character had the waypoint.
My congrats to the OP as well. The idea people came up with of teaming up is the best solution, I try to solo as much as possible but there are times you need multiple people.

Nobody is a machine.
Don’t cry, Signet of Mercy. Others may forget you, but I will always remember.
Our deficiencies may be overcome by practice and self-discipline.
Just a suggestion, the event is really fun, you meet alot of new people, you get some map exploration and it’s for a good cause.

Are you sure you are thinking of the Taimi’s Game instance? That is on one big enclosed area so there is no platforming involved at all.

My first sentence might have been a bit confusing but I mentioned platforming more as a general thing while “twitch” definitely applies to Taimi’s Game. Platformers often = twitch also.
I feel like it is more about aggro management. Mainly don’t aggro the whole room and try to pile all the mobs on top of the same area to avoid covering too much of the room with fire. Once does get covered by too much then you use the orb.
I just did my third run where I more or less aggro the whole room a few times and that was tougher to deal with than the previous two.

Not sure how I could avoid agroing everything – they came straight for me.
Stand to any one side of the room before they spawn. Avoid dodging into stuff. Their aggro radius doesn’t cover the whole room.
