Q:

Anyone know how to use throwing skill when you hold down right mb?

I’m going to try an grenade build to my engineer, but I’m holding down right mouse button to get mobility, and because Rmb+Lmb=run, make it so I can’t throw anything.

Not sure about disabling that functionality, but you can tap the skill key a second time to activate AoE abilities instead of using left click to trigger it. So, for example, to use your basic grenade throw (1) you just tap 1 once to bring up the targeting reticule, and a second time to use the ability. That would serve as a potential workaround.

Double-tapping the number key is probably faster than tapping the key then clicking anyway, which is particularly nice with grenades since you need to be using AoE constantly.

I hold Rmb, W and then A or D so double tap the 1 key is not something I want to do.

You can press R to auto run, if that helps

Auto run doesn’t really help.

So there is no way to disable the Rmb+Lmb combo?

Try using quick casting with range indicators. That way, the skill casts when you release the key for it while still letting you aim.

If you’re going engi, go to options and select “Fast with range indicator” it’ll save you a lot of grief. Basically it just makes it so as soon as you release the button to aim it fires, so tap it and it fires instead of having to double tap.

I never had issue with holding down RMB using WSAD and then double-tapping skill button – although I rebinded all skill buttons to be much more available……

Continuously holding down your RMB is a bad habit anyway, as it prevents you from using About Face and your skills won’t autoturn you towards the target before firing, either. Sure, with grenades it isn’t so bad because they’re all ground targeted, but with anything that is not ground targeted, holding down RMB hurts more than it helps.

Anyway, fast ground targeting should solve your problem, as suggested above.

I don’t like the instant cast as I like to aim, and finding the mouse in hellfire is hard, and I don’t wont to hold down the key.

So it’s impossible to disable the Lmb+Rmb combo, so there is nothing I can do instead of complaining to Anet and hope they will make it an option to disable that.

It’s never going to happen.

This. When they introduced this feature (you can pick from 3 ranged attack options), I found that this one corrected the problem the OP is mentioning.

Note that you can cancel the skill use while still holding the button down by pressing ANOTHER skill button or ESC.
