Hello, I keep seeing this non playing figure in the game. It appears as an outline for something like 5 seconds and disappears. Does anyone know what it is?

client-side hallucination only your character can see, gets triggered when you meet certain requirements (some event i believe)

I’m not sure anyone knows but its been happening for several weeks now. I also think its client side so the figures placement will be unique to each user. Don’t quote me on that though.

oh my goodness. i thought it was just me. I have see the glowing figure while completing map completion as well, so it isn’t just in the new areas. (at least for me, that is)

I believe you start seeing them if you’ve done season 3 episode 1. Since episode 2 I’ve been seeing them much more often but that could just be my imagination. You also hear a lightning strike sound effect when one appears out of thin air. They actually look very similar to an echo you can see during episode 1.

i haven’t started season 3 episode one yet… nor have I completed HoT…. but I see the glowing figures every now and then. I just go with the fact they are angels from fallen heroes who no longer log into the game, cheering me on.

I thought it was something to do with seeing/fighting/killing the huge anomaly that appears in some maps.

I’m not sure though. But once it starts it’s account-wide. I’ve even seen it in low level story instances on new characters who have not done any Living Story or HoT content.

Ive had it too but have never killed an anomaly type boss – though i have completed ls3 thus far. Its creepy as hell and i wish theyd expand on it somehow!

First time i saw one of these it spawned almost on top of my toon, scared the crap out of me

Same thing happened to me, I started to unload my skills on it thinking it was some gribily wanting to eat my face. They remind me of the vail guardians.

I’ve never seen one, it makes me kinda sad :/

they have. all this ley line leakage and eating and literally EVERYTHING thats happening. these figures are just one more symptom of the world ripping apart at the seams

I’ve seen those figures everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. I’ve even seen them in the PvP Lobby and WvW. I think ANet is up to something.

I just realize… I may have tunnel vision problems because I have never seen any of these things ever…

Seen it pop a few times in Guild Halls.

Haha this figure was giving me major creeps appearing EVERYWHERE. It was hard to find a thread about it. Some Creepypasta stuff there. Thank God I’m not the only one

I kinda freaked out when it happened kinda close to me, because it came from my left headphone speaker and I immediately got goosebumps all over my body.

I once shadowstepped towards it and received an Achievement point if I remember correctly. Stuff like this (randomy appearing figures) was a nightmare at my grandparents house as a kid, 25 years later I am still being haunted by it shudders

I got four achievements today by walking into the figure. I was actually just going to try to talk to it, but I went too far, and ding, ding, ding, ding, 4 achievements.

The last one was “Burden of Choice”, and it definitely has something to do with LS S3.

Next time you see it, run towards it! If you can reach it before it disappears, you unlock a little quest track in the “Current Events” achievements called “Burden of Choice”, which starts with traveling to the Priory to ask for help. If you complete the requirements, you can actually get rid of it and stop seeing it!

This and my character randomly screaming at the top of her lungs for no apparant reason – my husband tells me “Stop that!!” and I’m going… “wtf”???
