Disappointed in other players (jealousy)

Someone fighting right next to me and my guildie got the Hunter – and the Predator is the legendary my guildie really wants. He was dying.
But yeah, come on, who’s going to actually complain about this? The event was great.
Let’s add it up.
The quest — bugged and bugged.
The massive group battle featured “You were hit for 4017 damage by Unknown using Spit” — rendering problems, just like you see in WvW. Getting portal bombed by a bunch of stealthed baby karkas isn’t “great” imo.
The things ANet is good at, has been good at for almost a decade:
Small group instanced dungeons, and small group pvp.
Things everyone knows are weak:
Quests — any of us who’ve had characters stuck in the storyline for most of the time the game’s been live know quests are NOT ANet’s forte’.
Large group combat — let’s face it, the entire meta of wvw has been about exploiting how crummy the system is, whether it’s portal bombs, hacking the orb, or perma-stealthed thief antics.
They should stick to what they’re good at, especially for a big event where they were trying to lure trial players into putting GW2 on their Xmas lists.
The loot means almost nothing. I love my 20 slotter, don’t get me wrong. But no matter how you do an event, people expect phat lewts. Phat lewts isn’t why we play GW2, tho.
Egh RNG not something I’d design a game around but who am I.
What choices do you have if you remove RNG? Youd end up with even more of a grind.
Ive gone through countless MMOs always being the ‘unlucky one’ To date the only exotics ive got from GW2 have been from the Ascent to Madness Halloween dungeon and this event and yet I dont hate the fact RNG is in the game. In fact many a time have I played on this fact, selling rares instead of combining them in the forge for a guaranteed amount of money as opposed to gambling. On occasions I have gambled and ive never got anywhere. But I did it for the thrill of gambling!
My original point was to bring to light the fact that no one is entitled to anything in this game. By rights that chest didnt have to be included and the players shouldve completed the event for the fun of doing so. ANET saw that some people would moan so put a chest in there (thanks!) but still some are moaning.

My experience wasn’t so great. On day two, I logged in to an overflow server. Nothing happened. We all waited for over 30 minutes, and suddenly the quest changed. We all got on a boat and headed to the Lost Shores… where nothing happened. We all just ran across the map in a massive group discovering POIs until we got all the ones we could. Everyone scattered after that.
This experience, and a similar experience on the first day, led me to not even bother arranging my schedule for the third event. I’m glad to see some people had a good time.
15 gold. Well that’s a bummer. I skipped out because I was a bit exhausted after the other two steps, and wanted to do some other things today anyways. Guess they back loaded the rewards.
I do have a partial map and another map fragment and a soggy bag I was told to hang on to by a red poster, so maybe I’ll get something for that?
