I could of swore I read that they updated crafting to allow you to do discovery straight from your deposits bag, but this does not seem to be true, at least for cooking.

I am still required to move all required items into my inventory, to be able to place them into the discovery tab.. whats the deal. Am I missing something here?

materials are used from your bank, crafted ingredients are not (which, as far as I noticed, was implemented after launch). As they go into your inventory after being crafted anyway, I do not see the big deal here. The rare items for runes etc. use a standard bank slot, they need to be on your inventory to show in the invention window.

Only materials. Things like insignia’s and hafts, blades, etc. that are required for discovery will still need to be placed in your bag. Not a big deal, just open your bank and take all your sigs out which can be accessed from any crafting table.

Well I get what you are saying, but this is not true for cooking. In cooking we dont use runes or insignias. We do have rare crafting materials that take a bank slot or inventory slot.

However, what I am talking about is basic crafting ingredients. Say lettece, or tomato. I am still being required to move them into my inventory slot for them to appear in my discovery tab.

I believe the update was for the recipe list only not the discovery tab. This provided us with an immediate update to help some with crafting and not have to wait for it later down the road for both at the same time. I could be wrong but I think I read that this past week.

ah, I understand you better now. It may be a server issue, I know another game that checks all subinventories for possible crafting combinations and it puts a lot of tear and wear on the game.

It’s fine as is
Discovery have everything on hand
Crafting it’s located in the collectibles storage so it’s ok

Thankfully, Arenanet doesn’t think it’s “fine as is” and has already stated they’ll be fixing it so discoveries pull from the collections tab/bank as well. It’s just going to take a little more time; they didn’t want to hold up the first part of the fix for crafting while waiting on that part.

Well personally it’s ok with me the problem I run into is with Cooking when the combo ingredients don’t push to the collectibles bank

Jewels in jewel-crafting are the same. Have to grab them all out of my bank for discoveries. Not the end of the world though. ^^,

Yeah jewel crafting seems significantly less taxing then cooking. Cooking goes like this.

1. 101 Basic Ingredients (potato, tomato, lettuce, red meat, ect)

2. 45 Advanced Ingredients (pasta noodles, pie filling, dough, piles of seasoning, ect)

3. 60 Base Meals (cinnamon apple, bowls of soup, breads, ect)

4. Crap Load of Advanced Meals (fruit bars, cakes, stir fries, hamburgers, ect)

5. 24 Dye Types (Which total 301 total I believe)

Needless to say there is hundreds of inventory slots required to hold each ingredient both basic and advanced. Not to mention the hundreds of slots required to hold the actual meals you make.

There simply is not enough room with the current system. So I am really pulling for them to switch discovery to completely be from the deposit tab.
