So we got mainly the Feature Pack in 2014, we’re approaching month #6 and it seems the game state has stopped. If you see what’s behind the feature pack it’s not all those full-featured stuff, but polish instead aside from wardrobe and a few other things.

Feature-wise the game lacks a lot, and we can’t walk too far from the core proposal so every feature we think about has to be tailored to skins and things of the like. I’d like to see:
- Housing
- New legendaries
- A full underwater map (don’t judge me, I love the largos!)
- New weapon choices or new skills or reviewing a lot of useless skills
- Defining once and for all a solid, consistent and concise framework to build personal stories and the living world on top of it while avoiding letting newcomers lost in a sea of unexplained lore (The Great Library idea? a LS book like PS?)
- Building more interesting side-stories in the lore in which characters don’t have to be in the “heroes of the season” group (I’m looking at Braham, Rox and the others)
- Revisiting the game’s combat core and evaluating what counters it better in order to properly avoid “stacking” and “skipping” behavior, while providing a challenging PvE system (c’mon devs, you built the combat, you should know how to make us sweat at dungeons)

And etcetera. But since none of this is coming this early, I’d like to know from you fellow gamers, what do you think it’s in store for us this year? I mostly believe revamping UIs and some maps, new LS, and maybe some new project towards legendaries/guild content.

-The Personality Tract revamp.
Found on the wiki: Personality appears to have been removed in the April 2014 Feature Pack on April 15, 2014.

I know you are trying to be positve and hopefull, but that being said as well as my complete loss of confidence with those that are developing the game ….

No new content, just new ways to get those with more gold they need to buy useless stuff like hats. More nerfing is inevitable, higher costs for everything, more gold sinks,. At this point I don’t think the future looks good for any type of real content or maps being developed as well as fixing anything. Would like to add more, but —-

More content tailored towards the gem store rather that earning it yourself in game.
(Armor, weapons, back pieces, etc.)

Personally, I think it’s more telling to see what this year will bring Arena Net, and let the impacts on the game flow from that.

Right now, GW2 is the king of the (non-WoW) hill. And they are, to be bluntly honest, coasting on that. The “features” they’ve implemented so far have been poorly done, and second rate to what many games (older and newer) have. And for now, that’s working, because even the new games coming out still don’t measure up to GW2.

…yet.

With more to gain and less to lose, we’ll be seeing those other games make the kinds of big leaps that GW2’s team either can’t or won’t make. Not everything they try will be gold, but they’ll still be seen as being more flexible and active than the GW2’s devs. Some corrections and a couple of good jumps, and by the end of 2014 to early 2015, GW2 will suddenly NOT be the king of the hill any more. And I honestly don’t think the leadership at ANet will see it coming. They’re too proud, to focused on their own vision of the game, and convinced that it MUST BE what gamers want.

So, for 2014, we’ll see GW2 do little that will surprise us. More of the same, really. Maybe a couple more “be careful what you wish for” improvements like how they listened to people wishing they could use town clothes in combat. And in 2015 is when we’ll see the sudden “Oh Kitten!” moment hit, and ANet finally trying to get their act together. (Which I expect they’ll do by cutting costs and slimming down, and firing all the “disruptive” members of the team who are really the ones they most needed to be listening to.)

delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Honestly, since so many people defend this game and its gem store, I bet legendaries in the gem store would be quite welcome and these people would be oh so willing to spend real money for them.

I mean, this game is ultra casual right? What’s more casual than simply buying everything from the gem store? We’re most of the way there already.

  • More temporary open world zerg content.
  • No dungeon content except for stealth nerfs.
  • No meaningful WvW content (tournaments don’t count).
  • More hats in the gemstore.

To be fair, I agree with why they did it. They want (or so they say) to have suggestions appearing in the forum areas that best reflect the type of idea, not all grouped together with no regard for what part of the game they’re for.

I still don’t get it why people are still complaining about it. What’s the big deal? Getting that stuff is soo easy without spending real cash on it. You can make easily 10g by just doing some fast dungeons on a daily basis. So that’s like 8 days until you can afford a gemstore armor, that you will keep forever unlocked with the new system.

Oh ok, not so exciting anymore…

Seeing that ANET moved Suggestions into archive

Actually they removed suggestions and replaced it with the Collaborative Development. I think the Suggestion forum was a bit to scattered, to varied, so with the CD they can narrow their focus and get feedback on specific topics.

Anyway on topic, we really need ANet to tell us a bit about what to expect in 2014…

I liked Flame & Frost. Discovering the maps and how some danger is slowly raising was a pleasant experience, although I’d like to see more hints or some side-story developing. That’s what the game needs lore-wise: side-stories. We have a main plot and that’s all, during this time we’ve only had SAB story and Bazaar of the Four Winds story aside from the main plot (BotFW was awesome because Glint).

They could branch side-stories tied with our PS, like if you’re sylvari you can now seek the truth behind White Stag vision and shall know what really comes with it as the main plot goes, or at least ONE story for each race (since 3 per race= 15, difficult to develop). Or just create fresh new stories with at least some options to choose from, or maybe just kill Trehearne (lol jk).

Since we all know the game LS are lore-focused and we’re having a more than one month break, deliver something worth it.
