Hi folks,

I’ve been a WoW player for quite a while. I jumped over to GuildWars 2 because I heard lot’s of good stuff about it.

Now, with the Living World new trailer coming out, I’ve seen Divinity’s Reach in trouble. Is this city like Stormwind, everyone chills there and does it’s stuff there? Or is it really human only?

Sorry for me being a maximum noob here.

Sincerely,

Aromandir.

TBH, lion’s arch is the real main city of this game.

Lion’s Arch is the “main” city in the game, as it isn’t race aligned. That being said, many people hang out in Divinity’s Reach because even without access to the Crown Pavilion, all of the other main services and crafting stations are very close together, making for the best efficiency.

There are 6 main cities in the game – one for each race and Lion’s Arch which is multi-racial. Everyone can visit all of them and everyone has their favourites.

Lion’s Arch is probably the most popular because it’s the easiest to get to (you can use the PvP and WvW menus to go to the Mists from anywhere in the world and then you’ll appear right by a portal to LA) and because it has some features other cities don’t have, like being the entrance to the Fractals dungeon and the raids.

But some people prefer the racial cities for the look, the layout of the bank, Trading Post etc. or simply because there tends to be less people there.

Also people will move around based on what new releases involve. There’s probably more people in Divinity’s Reach at the moment because it’s right by the new map. (At one point a few years ago Lion’s Arch was actually inaccessible as a town because it was under attack – you could go in to help with the fighting but none of the merchants and things were there. When that happened a lot of people re-located to the racial cities. This is also why it looks totally different in your Personal Story – that’s the old version from before it was rebuilt.)

GW1 had a human-centric story, so it’s only logical that GW2 will draw upon that lore for story in GW2 and that players would be drawn to rolling human characters. Since DR is the human home city you will have a fair amount of story in and about there.

When Lion’s Arch was destroyed during the first season of the Living World, some activities were moved to DR and simply stayed there like Winter’s Day. Lunar New Year was created post destruction and rebuild of Lion’s Arch and was a human holiday in GW, so DR was a logical place to have it.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Each race can (and does) hang out in any of the cultural cities (Divinity’s Reach, Rata Sum, Hoelbrak, The Grove, and Black Citadel) and Lion’s Arch. LA would technically be the “main” city, but all have people hanging around.

Lion’s Arch is the “main” city in the game, as it isn’t race aligned. That being said, many people hang out in Divinity’s Reach because even without access to the Crown Pavilion, all of the other main services and crafting stations are very close together, making for the best efficiency.

And in RS and HB for the same reason.

Only in Black Citadel you mostly see one race, because tiny hoomans get scared.

Is what we like to think.

Did you mean Royal Terrace? I’m not sure what services were available during/in the Crown Pavilion area other than the NPCs that offered special weapons, etc., and have moved to the Waypoint near there.
