Divinities Reach is so big, and a very attractive city. Currently there is not much reason to spend time there, which is a shame, because it looks like some people put a lot of work in the city.

I know I saw a shooting range that is destined to open eventually, but other then that, theres no draw to bring people together.

Maybe 4 years from now, they can have a Council Member Election Day event, where players come to town and cast their vote for the next council member! If your choice wins, you get karma or some like award!

Hopefully there is some sort of festival that takes place in Divinitys Reach.

I was thinking the same thing. Eventually I imagine there will be an event or series of mini events in Divinity. For fun you can always start a /dance party or send out a challenge for a costume bar brawl in Andrew’s tavern.

Hopefully they’ll add a bunch of mini games to DR instead of LA so there is a reason to go to both places. Honestly I haven’t been to divinity since my personal story and that’s bad.

The game world is just too large for the population now as well as there being no real reason to leave Orr where the majority of players are grinding..whatever.

This is a problem with all the major cities, really. I noticed the same thing in LA, where there’s this fighting ring or whatever, but there’s no way to interact with it (even though it’s a POI, for some reason). Then a number of NPCs in the Black Citadel that are looking for a book and a ghost at a dig site, but there’s no way to find either of them yourself, nor is there any sort of quest or event for it.

It kinda feels like Anet just sort of put out the barebones game to get it out the door, with the intention of adding actual interactive features to the cities a year or two down the road.

it’s a fantastic zone. maybe they could do a scavenger hunt event of some sort in there.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.

First, it’s intentional for LA to be the main hub for the population.

Second you can see all kinds of evidence of unfinished things in the other cities. Home instances, probable minigames, the giant gaping hole in Divinity’s Reach…

These are all things that will eventually be added to, to give you reason to at least visit these areas from time to time.

LA will still be the hub, though.

The cities do look unfinished but with lots of signs that AN has plans for them.

I would not argue that LA will be a major hub. Though Divinitys Reach is a huge elaborate and beautiful area, that is currently used for almost no content.

Perhaps in the future they will add a sewer system/outlaw underworld that is filled with bandits- maybe another dungeon. That Superior Sigil of the Outlaw/Bandit just does not hold much use outside of Caudecous Manor!

they say they want the cities to be safe havens, a place where players can feel secure, and that’s why there aren’t DEs in the cities.

i just don’t get why they can’t make a bunch of non-combat DEs, something to bring the cities to life, and something to justify the amount of detail put into them.

I have personally hated how games make single hubs. They should put the same things in each so people can go where they like. Personally I think LA is an awesome zone. I truly admire the work that went to create it. But DR is much nicer for me. I love how it looks and feels I only go to LA if I have to.

On my norn ranger, I constantly went back to Hoelbrak whenever I needed to TP, restock on supplies, and use my bank. However, around level 60 or so, I realized that everybody was in Lion’s Arch, so I just stopped going back to Hoelbrak.

A chat that spans all major cities would go a long way toward giving people a reason to spread out. I think most people congregate in LA because that’s where you need to go if you want to find anybody to group with and talk to.

As it is, I don’t really even like LA. I did the zone completion for it one time, and hated it ever since. But most of the other major cities are complete ghost towns.

Agreed! DR is a huge city zone and it’s pretty obvious a lot of thought went into the design. Unfortunately it ends there. Hopefully a future expansion, content patch etc. will utilize the area more.

Even if Lion’s Arch wasn’t meant to be the player hub, players would have picked a city and made it the hub eventually anyway. You just have too many converging playstyles that lead to a single hub.

Socializers prefer having lots of people around to socialize with so they go where the most people are. Achievers want the fastest and most efficient way to find resources, in this case other players to group with, for completing their achievements. Crafters want a single location with all the tools and such they need.

‘Course, on that last point I prefer The Grove for crafting as the crafting tables are in a compressed area and right next to the trading post. And since I have the mystic forge anywhere toy, I don’t even need Lion’s Arch for that.

I’ve gone around the city and talked to a lot of the npc’s there and often get a feeling they are set there to give out quests or launch events just by the tone of thier conversation. Hopefully these will be added over time.

Also I get the feeling just by the name “home instance” that this instanced area in the city could be the future location of player owned housing at some point in the future.

There are so many possibilities hidden in all of the cities. I look forward to what the future will hold. I never considered “home instance” player housing. That would be sweet!

Thanks for this. Recently I went to the Grove for the first time as part of my PS. It didn’t click in my head that the TP was right there at the crafting stations.
