Do I get a Character Slot NOW?
If you purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition.
Standard purchase will net you a character slot at a later date (Deluxe and Ultimate will award 2, total, at that time).

The Standard Edition comes with the “Veteran Appreciation” slot if the account was created before Jan 23rd 2015
But you do not get the slot now
They don’t have a system in place to deliver it, that needs to be developed and we have no ETA, it could be days, weeks, or months before we see that.
The Deluxe and Ultimate versions come with their own base single slot that you do get now as well as the Vet slot eventually.
Assuming in all cases that you prepurchase HoT. After launch all bets are off.

I prepurchased standard. There’s an additional slot on my startup screen labeled “BETA.” You can’t currently touch it for the moment except, presumably, for beta events. But it’s definitely there.

That is your Beta slot that is independent from any additional character slots you’ll be granted.
For example, if you pre-purchase the deluxe edition you will get that slot PLUS a normal character slot.
The veteran bonus slot will get added at some point, but you don’t get it right now.
