I’ve seen some people go back and forth on this and I’m looking for a definite answer. If not, I won’t worry about getting Ascended gear. If so, it seems like something I should be working on.

The following picture shows only a minor disparity between Ascended gear and Exotic gear, but I’m noticing the giant gaping hole that is the unused infusion slot : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/2/22/Ascended_example.png

Sooo… what’s the verdict on this. Those of you who have infused this ring- did it give you actual stats, beyond agony? If so, can you post a screenshot of the stats so we can see the actual numbers involved?

Between 2 rings it would only be a minor difference, but across an entire set it would definitely be something I’d need to work towards if that were the case.

Currently-available offensive infusions give +5 Agony Resistance in addition to +5 Power, +5 Condition Damage or +5 Precision while defensive give Agony Resistance in addition to +5 Toughness or +5 Vitality.

There are “versatile” versions of Precision and Condition damage that can be put into either type of infusion slot.

Small now, but it will add up a bit once the whole Ascended set is rolled out along with better infusions.

But those are blue infusions only. With no level requirement. Think what level 80 ascended infusions might have.

Actions, not words.

Your a fool if you think +5 is treadmill. Stop lieing to the forms and your self. Do you even know what great pains you must go though to get the +5?
Resilient Infusion (defensive slots)

1 Eldritch Scroll, 20 Mystic Coin, 250 Karka Shells, 100 Armored Scale

How about you look up info before you jump to these conclusion.

Why would things for level 80 gear have a level cap? There no level 50 ascended gear nor is there any level 10 or 70 or even 79 why would there be a cap for level 80 gear only?

While I might just be completely wrong and ignorant, doesn’t that infusion slot replace the normal slot in?

If so doesn’t that mean that they are trading something like a sapphire jewel (+25 healing, +15 Power +15 toughness) For some agony and + 5 of a useful stat? Sounds to me like an infusion slot would be less useful in anything but 10+ fractals

The jewel stats (and presumably rune stats when the armor pieces are rolled out) are built right into the gear piece so as to not disadvantage those who use them instead of exotics.

Really if they had not done that and left it at a trade between stats for Agony Resistance it would have alleviated a lot of the power creep fear.

Those bonuses are built into the rings and back piece. So you get both the increased stats, the increased upgrade, and the infusion slot to add yet again another increase. And anet has confirmed they will be adding higher stats via infusions along with armor and weapons over the next year.

Beyond tricks earrings and neck if you cant use runes for ascended gear its going to be at a major disadvantages yes ascended gear may have you more base and even more def but level 6 runes tend to make how you play. I would be hard press to lose Superior Rune of Mercy.

But there no info about the true meat of ascended gear.
