Do Troll Guilds exist? (Teq)

Most organized groups prepare well in advance and if they do leave maps, most do with plenty of time for the map to organize themselves. Teq is easy folks. You need very little time for set up these days. Triple trouble was intended by Anet to be for large organized groups. It makes sense that large guilds want to get as many of the people on teamspeak on a map to better ensure a triple decap. They have every kitten right to be on the map as you do. If you want to place blame, place blame on Anet for not giving us instanced content. Even so, most of these guilds that run TT gladly accept non-members to join in and openly give their teamspeak out for people to hop on. These aren’t troll guilds at all and there is no problem for Anet to “fix.” That is unless you’ve run into a real troll guild who is badgering and being rude to you. Because that is unacceptable. But simple organized groups that kill teq or TT? Sorry, not an issue.
Sorry, is an issue. and one that need to be addressed and put a end to guilds doing this to other players . that are not in a guild or are in a guild there should be no harassment by a guild on one or two players . not only that honestly there is no need at all for (TS)-team speak or any other voice chat as in my book . it is a major waste and takes away from the game fully thus said some of us do not want to nor will hop or getting on any ones TS just because you say its ok to do so some of us much rather enjoy our game with out voices in our ears .and enjoy the game for what it is . but yes your right on this one and only one point and that is this. simple organized groups that kill teq that is not the problem at all
The large organized groups that kill teq and TT do not harass other players and if they did they can be reported to the guild leaders because such behavior is not allowed or accepted by these guilds. If people are being mean and rude to others they should be reported for sure. But the groups I’ve run with have always been polite to members and non members alike.
there are a few out there that are doing this. but from what i seen so far not one thing has happened to them guilds for doing this. and iam glad the person that made this post about this problem did it. as it goes to show there is a problem and it is going on and being done by a few guilds .. and while we can not say names it will take you only one time to spot them once you came across them .As for these smaller guilds that get upset at people for putting food and banners down… That’s just bizarre. I don’t understand that type of behavior. Alas I’m not sure there is much that can be done other than avoiding their maps.

if Anet does not wish to do something about this problem with there game. then maybe it is time we stand up and let Anet know we are not happy with this problem and want it fixed
First, we have to agree that there’s a problem; I don’t think there is.
well that is your option and only one of how many people play this game ??? millions . and there is a problem here but the rest need to speak up about this and let it get pushed under the rug like some others would like to see. just saying and that is my honest thoughts on this .
How is that you get to speak for those millions? I’m just saying and that is my honest thought about it, too. You claim there is a problem and yet lots of people don’t see this:
- I show up for Tequatl 5-10 min before it spawns and it always succeeds.
- I have friends who show up 25 min before it spawns and it always succeeds.
I’m not trying to push anything under a rug, I just don’t see the evidence that this affects the vast majority of the community. I see that a few people have encountered something maps that haven’t succeeded and that some of those believe that it is due to a group deliberately leaving the map to cause a failure. I don’t see evidence that it’s actually intended (rather than people deciding to head elsewhere for other reasons). I don’t see evidence that this happens frequently or that it affects huge portions of the community.
I get that if it even happens once it would be very frustrating to deal with. I just haven’t see anyone make the case as to why ANet should consider this to be more important than any of a number of other issues impacting the game, such as collections stalled by frequently-bugged event chains, glitched traits/skills, real money traders, etc.

He was merely saying in an openfaced way that there are players… more than one, some, maybe lots that see this as a problem. Some of us, a few, some, lots perhaps don’t see it as a problem. That doesn’t mean the issue isn’t there to affect others.. I have seen it first hand on many occasions, but as TEQ in no way needs such precise organisation these days, I simply enjoy the comedy show until said guild and organisers run out of abusive remarks and leave map.. does it complete .. well I would hazard a guess that 90% of the time it does for maps I am on.. but for some it may be a hard loss and a waste of time/effort.. hence this type of post emerges here in.
Personally I am more on the “it’s a annoyance to some for sure” side of things, but a simple blocking of the protagonists and a look down the LFG for alternative taxi’s is a simple solution.
I do agree though that ANET should be focused on dealing with more pressing issues like you have stated.. fixing broken event chains, collections, bugged personal story etc… though it doesn’t seem like they even consider such core issues as problems either… so who knows.

People in this very thread were complaining about this behavior. Go back and read the comments. I’ve not seen it myself, but apparently there are some groups that will leave the map if someone else puts food or banners down.

I typically get there up to an hour ahead of time and am working the entire time to make sure all of the teams have enough players (and pointing out which teams need people). This means everything from /map chat to talking to some people individually.
I welcome help from anyone. I do NOT welcome someone coming in later and trying to take over just because they did their organization elsewhere. Snooze you lose.

ok i might have missed that but yet any one who crys over free food buffs and banners . then that is there own problem to deal with and not even the same problem as the guilds who harass the players who take a turret . and want them to give up the turret . just all so in the name they can have there whole guild on the turrets and boats . and then just set on the turret and do not one thing but set there the whole time. and if we could put the names out with out getting banned take it to the bank they would have been named by now.

The problem is they did NOT organize everyone who was there. They did whatever organization elsewhere (supposedly) and came in and expect to displace the work of an hour just on their say-so. Who elected anyone the royalty of an event anyway?

Actually, it means you do not know how to use their systems. When I got to the teq area tonight I could see they were doing well so I went off in search of a map that needed help. After going to wvw and back a few times I kept getting the same map until poof nice empty beach.
Just keep pinging in and out until a new map opens for you. Then taxi your friends in before it fills up with everyone else. If someone says they are great at organization they should be able to swing that.
this things shouldn’t happen.
- First guids can spawn tequal as a guild mission so the bs of we are organizing this tequal map when is on a open world event stinks. They are there to help, not to impose after all is a free event.
- Second the Tequal Event is every 4 hours. That means if a troll guild do that, they just may make you loose your opportunity to finish tequal for the day. So to anyone that says things like whining because you just wasted 30 minutes of your life waiting for un event that ultimately will not succeed, well that’s the kind of people that i deeply dislike.
Unfortunately this kind of problems and toxic behavior is systematic to how the events are designed.
Creating a fixed timetable in a fixed map for this kind of event promote this kind of situations for the high probability to concentrate many speed runners, efficiency farmers and meta of the month players.
One of many answers for this problem, as i pointed out several times in the forums, is to make the event NPC dependent instead map dependent. If Tequal moves around with his hordes then the players will have to stop doing grinding-farming and begin to actually play the game.
They have to ask around to other players, NPCs or even investigate thru Tyria to find the rampaging champion.
Even more interesting would be if those champs would have objectives so if you don’t stop them they could destroy cities, secure strongholds, definitely make the game darker and harder.
Then maybe the game would get interesting and stop being a farm house for speed runners, as we already have enough of those MMOs in the market like FarmAge.

I seen this at TT as well when (Edit out) or some guild was there at the start point and all ported away at last moment, and the world was left under populated and failed due to not enough players for a single wurm.
It’s a fairly common practise for larger guilds (especially on TT) to hop maps to load new map so everyone on that new map on there to kill TT and on their ts (they announce when to hop on ts). However, they do this in advance, not just before the spawn.

Actually, what it is about is some guilds whining and ragequitting because the map instance did try to organize itself. And the first guild that comes to my mind after reading OP’s post doesn’t really organize anything. They just pop up tags, and shout down anyone else, without actually trying to get anything organized beyond that (no turreteers of their own, no prepared turret defence teams, no finger killers, no reflects, etc). It seems that all their effort is spent on vocal advertisings of how great they are and how bad everyone else is.
There are other guilds that do organize great Teq maps, that are a pleasure to be on. Unfortunately, i see no way to make rules that would be able to differentiate between those two types. The only way left to players is just remembering which guilds are good, and which are bad, and leaving the instances with the second king early enough to not be affected by their drama shows.

That is one of the signs I look for: are there a bunch of tags at one place. Tags can be a great organizational tool but if you see several at the same place well before something is going on odds are 1 is (or is not) organizing and the rest have it on for vanity purposes. Not that there is not a good reason to do it on a champ train or such so you can see if everyone is there before killing a champ but you would hardly need several at the spawn point for the jungle wurm in caledon.

This is rarely true. They fill the map and tell everyone to organize a certain way, then when their Guildies can’t be bothered to show up early enough to get on the organized map, they jump ship and leave most of the pugs that got there early and helped organize behind. That kills any chance of, the people that showed up and prepared, getting to actually succeed at the event.
I have encountered 2 event guilds at Teq. One guild (and there are probably others) has a great organization. Ok, some of their members are real kitty-cats but in general it is a pleasure to work with them.
The other. Well. Anyone who has encountered them knows how they are viewed.
In Maguuma there are two “troll” defined guilds, and they have some how managed to survive for so long. Most of them are on my block lists. Needless to say they are avoided by most cause the old that have been on this server long enough, still remember..
