The reason I ask is I understand certain Superior Runes can only be had from removing them from exotics, example I want to get the Superior Rune of the Doylak and I understand this is not crafted but only had by removing it from exotics…but where do these exotics from besides completing zones?

Unless of course i’m wrong about the Superior Runes and and there is some way to craft them or buy them from an npc?

I’ve personally only ran the story dungeon Ascalonian Catacombs, and I’ve already found at least 3-4 exotics outside dungeons, just running around with my girlfriend, playing, and enjoying a game that doesn’t tie me down to doing dungeons.

Couple of days ago we found level 70 exotic (Orange). Berserker Pants for my Warrior, an Exotic Spear forget what it was called, and then I believe she found an Exotic helmet. So, I would say yes, there is exotic drops outside of dungeons, I’m not too sure how rare they are though, I can’t personally say I’ve been looking for them, because if worst comes to worst, I’ll just do like I did with my level 70 weapon, and buy it.

Yes, Exotics can be found as “world drops”, they’re just the rarest. And some runes can be crafted while some are not (or just not discovered yet).

My friends and I play quite a bit, and even grind mobs like the trolls quite a bit, and/or slaughter tons of mobs when we gather in cursed shore. Lots of extra killing. Nobody has ever had an exotic drop yet.

We get them from zone completions – but everybody gets those and they’re not even 80, which is lame, but that’s another story.

If you do get an exotic out and about, consider yourself lucky.

Yeah I’ve played every day since headstart and have never seen an exotic as an actual drop.

Currently the only way to semi reliably get exotic items is to blow a ton of money on rares in the forge.

Or just buy them

I had a few drop on normal world maps, but they are so rare hoping for getting them via world farming seems unreasonable.

I’m usually running with close to max MF (all armor with runes and trinkets, weapon with luck rune and food/boost/banner up during farming). So far I have gotten two exotic drops in 250 hours of play time. So they do drop, but they are really rare.

I haven’t had much luck finding exotics.

In fact, the only ones I can ever recall getting were the ones rewarded for area exploration.

I dunno, I don’t stack any MF but it is kinda lame that after more than 300 hours played I haven’t actually had a single exotic drop.

Not a game breaker for me, don’t get me wrong, I have full exotic gear but yeh it does seem to me that MF is really a bad mechanic that we could’ve done without. It would seem like extrem bad luck to not have had a single exotic drop after so much time, but oh well.
