Back in the day I used to get a key drop a few times a month just from random mobs. I recently realized I’ve had three ascended drops since my last key drop. Just curious if they’re even in the loot table any more.

i think you were probably just lucky, although they might have nerfed the droprate.

i’ve had maybe 5 lifetime, the most recent a few months ago. I’d guess it’s just rng hitting a low patch.

I’ve gotten a couple from random mobs in the past month.

Not found one in over a year.

If they do, might have more luck playing the lottery. I haven’t seen one in ages.

One dropped today for someone in a map I was in – I do remember them dropping more often at launch though.

Yes they do, I got one from Kholer in AC yesterday.

Been playing since the headstart, and I’ve gotten one key dropped as loot. I’d say you already used up all your key dropping RNG.

Yes, but you’re far more likely to get them as rewards for map completion than as a random drop.

You were incredibly lucky if you got as many as one/month.

I get them reliably from map completion, but not from random drops. (They do drop from mobs though; I’ve had guildies get them in the last few months.)

I don’t believe I’ve gotten one as a drop since the week of this game’s release. They have substantially lowered the drop rate since to literally almost nothing.

In three years, I’ve only gotten TWO.

People getting them so much a month…lucky…

The answer is yes. Also I’ve had 3-4 key drops in the last 3 years!? So yeah a few times a month is… well maybe not representative of the norm?

They are about exotic or above on the loot list… so will drop rarely at best…

Yah. They drop. Why it was only a year (or two) back that I got my last one.

last sunday i recieved one by killing a dust mite in Dry top.

You were really lucky, my average key drop rate from mobs is one key per half a year or so. It is really low, but as far as i am aware they still do drop.

Got my second drop in 3000 hours a few weeks ago, so I’m pretty sure they do “still drop”

I’ve noticed a significant increase in the number of dropped keys over the last 6-8 months. I had a few right around launch and then none (as far as I remember) for over 2 years in the middle.

Seems like you have a better chance of getting a key when you finish mapping a zone than you ever see as a random drop. Some of my guildies and I have speculated that it seems more likely on the lower level zones (under level 50) than the higher ones. The pattern (if there is one) is unclear. You are more likely to get a transmutation charge than a key on zone map completion. My last key drop was from a veteran reef rider in Southsun about 6 months ago.

You’ve gotten a “significant increase” in the last 6 to 8 months? How many is that? Especially since so many have gotten zero keys during that time. The last one I’ve gotten was about a year ago, or longer.

I went through a time, about a year ago now…where I got a key for almost every map I completed. I have probably only gotten 2-4 from mob drops in the 3 years of playing. All of a sudden the drop rate changed for map completions…I seem to remember a post about that changing in an update…just can’t remember which one. Now…it feels like its more likely that I will get an ascended than a key at any given time…lol

That’s amazing. Like I said, I’ve gotten zero in a year and maybe 4 or 5 in the 3 years I’ve been playing. Shows what RNG does. What is your magic find level? I wonder if that effects the drop rate.
