Do older people play this game?
How old is older? I’ll reserve sharing my age until that’s sorted out lol
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Yup, plenty of people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s (even even some older than that) play.
I’m turning 33 this year, been playing GW since Factions. Hi.
32 here.
3 days ago was my birthday
The oldest people I know playing are over 70. The youngest I’ve met was 7. (Something to keep in mind the next time you see a complaint about ANet suspending people for poor word choices.)
Yes, and I’m in a guild specifically for players 30 and older.

I guess I meant around my age? I hadn’t really thought the limits of “older” through :p they do say you’re as old as you feel I guess?
As for everyone else, thank you for replying. It’s nice to feel like I’m not past playing this game yet

Oh and happy birthday for 3 days ago!
Gamers will never stop playing, old fokes hose will be doing CS GO LAN rather than Bing in the future.
I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that…… I don’t remember my age.
You whippersnappers need to stay off my lawn anyway
ANet may give it to you.

Oh that did make me giggle. Thank you!
I’m 33.
I’m 29 and regularly encounter people my age and older. I’ve even seen people on the forum talking about playing with their grandchildren.
I don’t know for sure but I suspect this game probably has more older players than most MMOs because the lack of a subscription and casual-friendly gameplay (things like not periodically adding new equipment tiers and levels, minimal grind to unlock new abilities and access areas) makes it much more appealing to people with jobs and other responsibilities that limit how much time can be devoted to one game.

I turned 53 in April and play with a group mostly my age since Prophecies. We’ve picked up a few extra stalwarts that are MUCH younger, and we’re played with people older. I was surprised to hear that a woman we were partied with was an avid player since Prophecies, and she’d just turned 72.
30s is older? :-O
62 here, with 6.8k hours since 12/12
30s is older? :-O
I hope not. I turn 30 later this month and I certainly don’t feel old.
(Especially when I’m sitting here eating toast for dinner and watching Superman.)

I suppose I should of put it into perspective. Like I said I haven’t played the game too much so far and so haven’t spoken to many people. Those I did speak to though we’re around 17/18. So I suppose I meant older than teenagers (although there is nothing wrong with teenagers. Like I said, just curious that’s all)
46 here.
Technically I’ve been a gamer since my mom brought home PONG in the 1970s.

Im 30. Plenty of older people play the game. In fact, I am in a guild that is just for people aged 30 +
We have a 60+ year old in our guild who plays hours daily.

You are as old you feel I don’t feel like I’m in my mid-40s.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
I am 35 and my friend Barak is 80 I believe. Still an awesome player.
57 here I may be getting older but I re… UH What was I saying and were are my glasses

I’m over 50.
RIP City of Heroes
I’ll be 50 in September. Even if that Age Bot thing people are using claims I’m 37
My dad is almost 60 and he plays. Has like 400 WvW rank or something ridiculous.
All the responses so far make me so happy, thank you. I really was expecting to get some kind of abuse or rude comments. I think I shall like playing this game
Just remember, we don’t get older, we level up.

When I read the OP, I was thinking they would be considering themselves on the young end of the spectrum.
Now I am depressed.
Yes, ‘older’ people play this game. And, evidently, some ‘ancient’ people, as well.
Welcome to Tyria.
Well, considering the average age of today’s gamer is now the mid-30’s, this shouldn’t really surprise anyone…and that average age is only going to increase(as it’s been doing all along, not decreasing as some might think).
P.S. I’m 51.
You’ll be amazed who plays this game… People of all ages, married couples and even a 14 man guild that is all family members only lol
….. And Elementalist.
All ages, from pre-teen to AARP members.
Hey UO and Evercrack was over 15 years ago. GW 10 years ago. Assuming some of you started playing those MMORPGs in your freshman year of high school that’ll still put you at 24. Add four or more years if you started those games in college. If you were a PC gamer from days of old, playing Gold Box D&D, Ultima or Wizardry series you are going to be much, much older.
RIP City of Heroes
Not sure if this fits “Older” But I am 23 and my husband is 28

Precisely why I started and keep coming back to this game.
I bought it when my son was born because there was no grind for pvp, I had played several other MMO’s before starting with EQ and I knew that with an infant I’d be lucky to get much more than a half hour or so in on the days that I did have time to play it.
I just came back from a 1 year break (had to try eso and destiny) and it barely took any time to get back into the swing of things. My 80 Ele’s gear is still good enough and a quick read through of patch notes told me everything that had changed.
Still enjoy the game and most people I’ve met outside of public TS for WvW have been mature and in their mid 20’s or older.

Who you calling ancient? LOL tbh, I’m old enough to be my daughters’ grandma. C’est la vie! haha
Older players – Some older player’s are so old that they used to load games on a huge box of a computer with cassette tapes – Then floppies and so forth – Some that grew up in those ancient days went on to write and program games – And now here they are enjoying the fruits of the past playing all sorts of games and also using all of today’s wonderful technology- Yeah older gamers do know where this all began -
Age, illness or a disability – We all look the same in game world – My age – From what I have read lets say- My husband and I are ‘older older’ gamers -
Cheers and may all enjoy – -

I don’t need to state my age, but my first game system was an Atari 2600, I had a Commodore 64, Tandy 1000, Colecovision and an original Nintendo.
The half dozen or so people I mostly associate with in game are early 40s to mid 50s. I generally don’t like playing with people under 25 ish because their perspective on life and the things they find amusing are , lets just say immature and age appropriate.

33 and played since beta.
Wife is 32 and has played for a little over a year.
A 30 year old cousin plays.
My brother is 27 and has played for 6 months.
I have some nieces and nephews that play too.
Both my daughters have characters that they play around with.
Not only do older people play, but the game brings families together. Nothing like a Friday night dungeon raid with good ol’uncle Karm.

44 here and pretty much the same story, though my affinity for being a ranger in MMO’s finds it’s roots in D&D.
I turn 53 this month and my wife, who also plays, is 51.
My wife started computer gaming in the late 70s (a DOS version of D & D) and has gamed since then. I had a Pong console in ’77, played a couple of games like Riven and Myst, then started MMOs in ’07.

I had a first generation c64 homecomputer (and an Atari 600 XL before that even), call me oldschool with more or less 30 years of gaming experience :-)
38 years old.
Still enjoy a game when i can spare the time. And yes there are many more, just not as vocal in the public chat as the younger players mostly. There have been games (and gamers) for over 30 years now. Turning more and more in a thing for the whole family nowadays (just like card games and board games).

Going to be a super noob older player in about 3 more hours (80% downloaded.. ????)
if I’m lucky….
Have been looking for a replacement mmo for ffxi, which I quit about two years now, had me sucked in for the best part of four years, and now miss..
My gaming days started back with ZX Spectrum, Commadore 64’s (playing “Skull”) with a stand alone datasette (audio cassette loader to you young uns).
Been looking for a populated friendly Ingame and forum community type mmo, which I’m pretty sure I’ve found..so hope to see you all in game.
Oh the question,, I’m 47 <cough><cough> 82%now ????
50+ here, started pencil and paper then graduated to tape drive, and the rest is history. Jeez I miss Bedlum. I am going to get that out one day, but my halfs-heimers will probably nix that. Now where the hell did that doughnut get to>>>>??
I’m 30+ here. MMO’s, sandboxes, and “God of War” type games are just my thing.

48. The guild I’m in is also for gamers over 30 and we’ve over 300 members.
40 here. A lot of people in our age range play. MMO players skew older anyway.
