Do people Buy legendaries? or
People value their money differently is all it boils down to. Some don’t mind spending real money for virtual items because they have disposal cash.
I ignore them completely. Looks ugly (not all tho), clips with my hair/body/armor. Waste of programming power in my book. Just the way to make them sucks. I would have np creating legendary weapons if 1. there was a dungeon where ALL what’s needed (including precursors) were drops and not 1 lodestone per 100h kind of thing and 2. do i want to 100% map all boring zones just for a skin? I don’t. People always bring the “but then it would be too easy” BS… NO it wouldn’t be ‘easy’ it would be fun as fun in playing a dungeon while progressing into your legendary and not mapping deserted zones half brain dead.
I’ve worked hard for both of my legendaries, Bifrost and Sunrise. 1K hours.
I invested carefully in several items to afford my Bifrost, which I bought for 145G after the Karka event. I got it around mid November.
Throughout December I grinded hard and bought Dawn for 380G. Shortly thereafter I got dusk to drop and sold it for 575g. That made it easier to afford Sunrise.

Appearances of my weapon do not matter.
My weapon going into the skulls of my enemys matter.
I wouldnt mind a legendary for 380 gold. But people are selling it for 2000+ now, and it’s impossible to farm that much money within a couple months.. would probebly take me a year, since I’m still in college and have a job

I think I know who you are Ar…. I wont type it all!
Considering that the 2300 gold that legendaries go for on the TP equates to roughly around $2400 usd at current exchange rates, I don’t think people are actually going to spend the real money required to but one.
WORKINGS:
Gem → Gold: 100Gm → 1.18g
Lengendary price: 2299g (Min sale for Bolt)
Gems required (100’s): 2299/1.18 = 1948.3 ~ 1948
USD → 100Gm: $1.25USD → 100Gm
Money required = 1948*$1.25 = $2435 FOR Bolt @ 2299g
Of course there are more illegitimate ways to buy gold.
It’s also probably easier to craft it than to straight up for the gold required.
So wrong that you can buy a legendary…
I know a crazy guy that spent over 5k on Warhammer armies.
Another fellow I know spent over 2k on MtG cards.
Amazing what people will spend on games.
If they actually looked great i’d get one but they don’t sadly, the only legend i remotely think looks “ok” is Incinerator and still not interested in the time/prices it would take for two..
know someone that spent 1000 usd in the gem store just to buy the pieces you could buy (before legendaries showed up on the tp)

The difference is those people paid for actual objects that are worth something to collectors. Both of these ‘crazy’ guys you know could likely sell their collections and make a profit. At the very least they can reclaim most if not all that they spent should they choose to do so.
However, buying a digital item for thousands of dollars would be extremely idiotic as you do not actually own anything. You have no concrete item that can be stored, saved, collected, or sold. You are essentially flushing money down the toilet because that item holds no value.
Almost everyone who has a legendary have used an exploit at some point or have just purchased them using real money given to gold farmers. So shouldn’t they all be getting investigated and possibly banned?
They shouldn’t have made Legendary tradable . Precursor to be tradable was okay, but Legendary should be at least Account bound on Acquire. I just don’t see the logic behind tradable Legendaries apart from wanting players to actually using insane amount of Gem to get them.
However, the best satisfaction is still by crafting your own Legendary weapon. Buying it from the TP will never feel the same as crafting it yourself.

I disagree. If I hadn’t levelled 6 characters at once, I would have at least one legendary now. If I was serious about getting one, I could have one in the next couple of weeks. But Im not interested because none of them appeal to my builds for my characters and Id essentially be downgrading them in terms of stats compared to the exotics I have equipped. There are people out there alot richer than I am, aka TP players, who could afford alot of this stuff, I could have done it via PvE.
EDIT: Oh and I didnt start this game until a couple of weeks after release and had no beta testing “inside information”.

google (buy guild wars 2 gold) you’ll see it costs alot less than you think. Arena Net should just make them account bound like the gifts.
Forget what the devs have told you. Legendaries are the epic grind of the game. Grind, grind, grind. Nobody said it had to be fun.
