Just wondering if people noticed if, while transfers are still free, the servers which perform good in WvWvW and thus receive a bonus and have easier access to PoIs in the Mist have a much higher population than the ones which are bads as people change to those servers.

It sounds logical that this would happen, but that doesn’t mean that it will. Has anyone noticed something like that?

Of course it’s happening. They have let free transfers go on for far too long.

I’m sure some will, yes. Just giving yourself a bigger queue time probably.

This was rampant before they implemented the once per 24 hour rule. Now its more stable, but its still happening. I agree they need to end free transfers. Its been more than long enough for people to find a home and guilds to establish themselves.

That said, I don’t like the one world per account deal. It should be per character, especially once they end free transfers. How am I going to know what a world’s population is like if I can’t experience it first hand. I’ve taken enough shots in the dark in other games and been burned enough to know I’m not putting money into something as critical as world decision knowing I can’t experience it first hand first.

I’m on Fissure of Woe (lowest ranked EU server). WvW is pretty much dead here. Only moved there a couple of weeks ago to play with friends, so not sure how bad it was before that.
Getting my PoI’s / vistas / skillpoints will be near impossible without switching servers.

It’s disheartening to go to the eternal battlegrounds and find out your server owns a maximum of 2 supply camps and your spawn is being camped. When you see that you tend to take the portal to Lion’s Arch :P

My ingame network isn’t big enough to organize anything to counter this, so if I want to WvW I’m probably better off changing servers.

Very simple fix:

1. Don’t allow transfers to a server that your present server is currently at war with.
2. Only 1 transfer per month.
3. Server transfer should be fairly expensive (5 gold, whatever).

Another issue with the server transfer system the way it is now, are spies. Certain guilds transfer characters to a server they’re at war with, then proceed to waste supplies and act as spies.

It’s out of control.

That won’t help when people switch so they just get the bonus and easy access to PoIs. They simply take a different server which is good in WvWvW. Its not that the current ranking is a secret and can’t be found on the web.

Crystal Desert:

1. Gained an early, minor lead in WvW.
2. A day or so later, suddenly started dominating WvW by an embarrassing amount.
3. After a week or so, was defeated by Jade Quarry allying with another server, using a server-wide TS hosted by a leet guild.
4. Crystal Desert has not had any success at WvW in the two weeks since then. Almost as if all the serious WvW’ers have left for another server. Hmmmm.

Yep, I am on Crystal Desert.

I can say for a fact there was collusion because you could see players from the 2 opposing servers working together against us… fighting us side by side.

Looks like Crystal Desert is winning their current WvWvW match against Dragonbrand and Tarnished Coast.

Although, I guess that’s besides the point. Allowing people to transfer so quickly – to other servers will just make people transfer to the winning server of their WvWvW group.

I do like the idea of not being able to transfer to a server that your server is competing against in WvWvW, and that would be fine so long as Guesting would be available so people can still play with their friends, if they just so happen to be on that server.

Of course. People do it in FPS games which last like 30 mins max, why wouldn’t they do it here when it lasts a WEEK.
