I sympathize with all the complaints about the dailies, but I can also live with this, I’m pretty neutral here, except for one thing:

How to earn laurels now?

Maybe I missed it but completing 3 dailies did not appear to grant a laurel.

I know the AP chests grant a few.

Monthlies is anyone’s guess until they roll over, but that is a quarter of my laurels, dailies are the other 3/4, for the most part. Are they leaving too?

Maybe laurels will now drop elsewhere or something?

You get laurels through the login rewards i think.

The laurels now drop from the login reward chests. If you choose the laurel chest at the end you will receive a total of 55 laurels over the 28 days. Here’s the break down of what you receive -

You get them from the rewards for simply logging in. After 28 days, you get an option to choose a chest that has a rumored 20 laurels. This means you can get 55 laurels every 28 days which is much better than before.

Not to worry, you get them from the login daily now.

You’ll end up with more laurels under the new system if you pick laurels for the chest on the 28th day.

But I see only 35 per month, not 55?

I guess that is actually cool for me, it makes the dailies something I can completely ignore.

Can we also ignore monthlies as well (from a purely laurel-centric viewpoint)?

I’ll also add that doing the Wintersday daily gives out a laurel and someone also mentioned that sometimes individual daily achievements may give out a laurel as well.

WoodenPotatoes put out a vid that walked through the assorted daily rewards. We don’t get a laurel every day, but there are like 35 available along the login track, not counting if you choose laurels from the final chest.

You actually get more than before if you pick laurels on the day 28 chest.

Also, I got an additional laurel when I completed 5 of the Wintersday Daily items.

This is the last monthly, there will not be one in January.

You’ll still get 10 laurels for completing the December monthly.

Right, there have always been the odd laurel rewards here and there. But mostly it was the 40-odd laurels from daily/monthly.

Moment of silence for those of you who actually liked the AP treadmill, but I had given up on APs some time ago and laurels were the only strong play driver for me.

In fact now I don’t even have to play. Just keep an old scroungy laptop alive that will log in. 5fps? no problem! Its just a menu choice and a click. Maybe harvest some blade shards and sprockrets, candy corn and crystals, charge a crystal at my krait shrine, play some ebayRP at the TP, discuss the latest movies in the chat window. LOL!

Can’t say I am upset about that. I can play how I want to play or not at all. Not sure if that is what they intended, but it definitely removed the grind of playing from the grind of time-gated content.

well the occasional extra laurels were nice of course, and I have no reason to turn down a few extra gold or some karma. But the nebulous value of a few percent this or that increase, skins to a mostly incomplete armor set, titles that i wouldn’t be displaying anyhow, and some consumables I either never used or could get elsewhere; these things really didn’t prompt me to run the AP game.

Sorry, I wasn’t asking why you gave up on AP, but why you think this is a bad change for those pursuing AP.

You also get a laurel for completing the wintersday dailies, but I fear that might be a bug.

I don’t consider it bad or good, it is neutral to me. But there are plenty who do care about AP expressing everything from disappointment to downright disgust. Whether that be real or perceived, they have my sympathies.
