Guild Wars 2

Its been 4+ years now and its still the same old stuff..

-Pretty old boring main page..
-Same old low graphic Red header since start..
-Very old information about classes what they do etc.
-Still beta stuff like Hall of monuments (who cares..)
-Buggy cheap forum.
-etc

I know they dont want to spend too much money/time on the website but kitten is it so hard to atleast refresh it a little??

I dont think its really worth putting much resources in. Although I would approve of a forum overhaul, intel-wise the That_Shaman reddit and Dulfy do a much better job than anet at providing all the news and tidbits.

Indeed it doesnt have to be a big overhaul.. but a new header and better news/main site like dulfy does or something would be nice. and the forum really should be removed and just put in a better reddit like version.. (try search in forum lol)

There’s a lot of different ‘sites’ associated with Guild Wars 2; some changed, and some more or less the same.

Subsites (x.guildwars2.com) are all pretty new and good looking

All others after guildwars2.com/ are old and boring

I don’t think the Releases page is boring.

Regardless, there is a theme I think they were going for, which is used throughout many of the site’s pages. It was discussed at launch; many preferred it to others, some did not. Maybe they will change the theme someday; maybe not.

As a web developer I have to say the “main” site, in general (www.guildwars2.com and its subs), is projecting a really bad public image of the game and Anet. It is really strange they haven’t yet simplified, actualized and migrated most of the content to a better platform.

Upgrading a website isn’t something that requires so much resources, at least not compared to many other aspects of the marketing strategy of a company, or compared with the actual developing of a game.

And don’t let me start with the forums… these forums truly are an insult to their users.
It almost feels like they prefer to keep a terrible official forum here just as an excuse to comunicate extra-officially on reddit.

Bro… why doesn’t my guardian blast lightning… I feel incomplete now.

What some find boring I find simple and easy to read. There are broken features, yes (hi, Forum Search!), and some outdated text, no question, but the base design is superbly minimalist and quick to navigate. Any time I look at the new HoT site I’m impressed by the graphics but have the hardest time actually finding a section I want if I don’t already know exactly where to look.

Your guardian DOES blast lightning. That’s the in-game animation from the staff skill 4. (I forget what it’s called, but it stacks might on yourself and allies.)
